My Kenmore oven, model 790, displays and beeps the F10 Fault

My Kenmore oven, model 790, displays and beeps the "F10" everytime we turn it on and it reaches temperatures over or at 300. We have to press the stop/clear. The oven is off at that point. WE CANNOT BAKE ANYTHING! I called 1-800-4-my-home and was encouraged to get a repair man out. I then contacted Kenmore and was told that any code from F01-F90 has something to do with the power and not the range itself and to unplug it or turn the breaker off for at least 30 seconds. DID IT-NO RESOLUTION.

Same thing happened to mine this morning....cut the circuit breaker for a hour....open oven and let it cool....
mine stopped, finally. Dont know if its a long term fix yet.. but at least it stopped the beeping.

My kenmore model 970(frigidaire) electric range displays F10 fault when i use the oven shutting down the oven and beeping. Help me please

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. F10 error indicates that the Electronic Range control (ERC) has gone bad and should be replaced. However, before replacing it you can take the screws out and then blow some air with the help of hair dryer so that if there is any moisture it blows it off. If still the issue is not resolved then replaced the ERC. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

should still be under warranty- contact your kenmore repair center or dealer where you purchased it. might be a failed safety interlock switch.
good luck! hope you sent in your warranty reg. card, or still have your receipt! if you have your owners manual, it may have a list of fault codes, and what they mean, and possibly explain how you can clear them! when in doubt- try unplugging it and plugging it back in- carefully! you're dealing with 220V! turn it off first!

Electric Diagram for Kenmore Model 790

Has the oven run out of control or gotten too hot? The 790 series is made by Frigidaire and those fault codes are F0 to F8. F2 indicates the temperature sensor is reading too hot. Now with the double oven models, some manufactures add an extra digit to the fault codes to indicate which oven created the fault.

Your most likely fix is to replace the temperature sensor. The most probable locations for the wiring diagram is taped inside the bottom drawer, on the back or under side of the oven, or behind one of the panels on the back of the oven. This might tell you the room temperature resistance for the temperature sensor so you can test it with an ohmmeter and be sure that it is faulty. Try Appliance Parts Pros for replacement sensors.

My kenmore oven is beeping and will not stop. the display shows F-1.

Please use the chart to determine which stove you have. You will have to look at the model number. The first 3 numbers will be the series on the chart. In most cases an F1 error would require replacment of the electronic control. This part is commonly refered to as an EOC or ERC. However this type of repair is usually reserved for repair specialists.

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes – 362 Series (General Electric)
F1 = Stuck Touch Pad Key - Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 911 Series (General Electric/Roper)
F0-F1-FF = Failed transistor in Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes- 665 Series (Whirlpool)
F1-E0 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E1 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E2 U/L ERC Errors - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E3 Fuel Type Fail

Kill power 30 seconds-Cancel-Start/Enter-5 seconds-Should see “E” for electric-
“9” for gas-If code changes again-replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 790 Series Electronic Oven Control (Frigidaire)
F1 = Shorted Touch Pad = Electronic Range Control (EOC) Internal checksum error.
Runaway Temp = Replace Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

Kill power 30 seconds - if error returns - replace Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

Kenmore Gas Oven F10

check the temperature sensor. TURN POWER OFF!If you open the panel where the controls are located you will see a connector that has about 10 wires on it. 2 of these wires will be violet. Pull off the connector and check the resistance between the 2 violet wires. It should be around 1000 Ohms.
If not, it is bad. part# for the Kenmore Model 790 is 316217001 - cost is about $25.00
