Well should be some movement this indicates air flow, machine prob has small clogg in it some where of filters are clogged, yes they do have filters, despite dyson claims.

Dyson dc07 clear dust bin will not close after emptying. Any time the bin is removed, the dirt falls out.

There is a lever that has a hook on the end that holds the door in the bottom of the dirt cup closed. If the little plastic hook gets broken the trap door will not stay closed by itself. The easiest way to fix this is to purchase a new dust bin. I have a bunch of them in my vacuum graveyard. You may call my store at 260 244-4696.

Dyson dc 33 put more dust in the air from around the seals than it sucks up! Is there a repair that works? I cannot seam to get enough pressure against the seals to keep them sealed.

Hi Jo, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC33 offers a high level of filtration, and the issue of dirt escaping from around the seals between parts would be very unusual. It's possible your machine has been damaged in some way, or that some parts are not correctly assembled.

To help you resolve this we would need to take some additional details, and to talk you through some simple troubleshooting checks when you have your machine easily to hand. If a repair or a replacement part is needed, we'll also be able to confirm whether this is covered under the free Dyson parts and labour guarantee.

When convenient, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) 1800 239 766 (AU), or 0800 298 0298 (UK).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

MY DYSON DC40 VACUUM DRUM WILL NOT SPIN.. NOT GETTING FULL POWER

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Please be assured it's normal for the dust and debris inside your DC40's clear bin not to spin. In fact in the bin base you'll notice 4 ribs, known as 'baffles'. These are engineered to catch the debris and force it to settle at the bottom of the bin. This helps to keep the debris out of the airflow, which can then pass through the mesh shroud and into the cluster of smaller cyclones where the finest dust particles are captured.

However, if your DC40 doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be, this is likely to be easy to resolve. Our online Support guide will walk you through each troubleshooting step: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc40/dc40-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-up-well

If you haven't washed your DC40's filters recently, this should also be done. DC40 has 2 filters engineered to last the lifetime of the vacuum, and these should be washed at least once a month. Use cold water without detergent, and allow both filters to dry completely for at least 24 hours before replacing them.

This should help restore full performance to your DC40. However, our experts are on hand to help if you have any further questions, and you can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Dirt is collecting in filter not in tube

Hi Deanna, it's Jack at Dyson.

Dyson cyclone technology is engineered to keep dust and debris away from the pre-filter. If a large quantity of dust is getting through to the filter, it sounds like part of the system is missing, or may have been replaced incorrectly.

To help us determine what may be causing this we'd appreciate the opportunity to take you through a few quick troubleshooting checks over the phone, when you have your machine to hand. Please call the Dyson Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

Best wishes,

Jack

Turbine head of my Dyson DC08 does not spin

This response is likely too late coming, however for others the problen appears to be the same as the fault with my turbine head which was that the turbine fan had become loose on its spindle. With no pressure on the brushes, friction would allow the fan to turn and drive the brushes via the belt. The faulty part is not available separately however I have repaired mine using araldite glue. Other things to check is for a worn belt. Cheers.

Dyson has stopped sucking and it does not swirl in the transparent part when swithed on

Hi there, to put your mind at rest, the dirt in the bin doesn't always spin round.

If the bin is filling and the machine appears to be picking up as normal then you have nothing to worry about.

However if you have noticed that the performance has dropped we would recommend checking your vacuum cleaner for blockages and washing the pre filter. Full details on this can be found in your user guide or in the Support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

No suction - Dyson vacuum

Hi If the Dyson is throwing out dirt at the back, it could be three possibilities:
1) The main floor head suction channel is blocked. Check the sole plate where the beater bar is, or if you have a cylinder/pull along model check the floor heads and main extension pipes.
2) Check all the inspection tubes especially the bottom part where the main handle hose is. Also check the filters are clean as well as the Cyclone shroud honeycombs are completely unclogged. Use of the upholstery brush is ideal for dust removal on the cyclones.
3) Check the main inspection areas on the Dyson as sometimes a back log of clogged dirt can get stuck. Also check the dust channel points when then bin is taken out.
Hope all this helps!

Poor Suction

I recently bought a second hand Dyson DC07. Its suction was poor. I removed all the un-clipable pipe bits and to remove any blockage but it all looked clear. The Final Sponge and hepper filter did have a lot of dust in it and the rotating brush was full of hair but nothing bad.

I eventual gave in to curiosity and removed the three screws in the top or the yellow removable dust collection tube and cyclone bit to see what was in there. The mechanism to release the flap at the bottom of the collection tube does not allow you to remove the lid completely but it does open far enough to get inside. I found the whole top section of the yellow plastic bit blocked by a big plug of compacted dust and a champagne cork. If you are willing to take the risk and have a torx 15 screwdriver handy it that part may be blocked. It did get a bit messy.

If I was going to attempt the same procedure I'd remove the dust collection unit from the vacuum cleaner as I did before, but leave the clear tube attached and the emptying flap firmly closed to reduce the mess from the dust falling out the bottom while cleaning the top part.

The rollers at the bottom of the sweeper have things stuck around them

You need to start with a pair of scissors and patience. Sit on the floor with the vacuum roller visible and accessible. Snip a string and pull it off. If the roller stops, cut string at that point. Try again. this is time consuming, but necessary. We borrowed a vacuum from a family that had four girls with long blond hair. We had to de-hair the roller before it would work sufficiently on our carpet. Once the hair was off, it worked GREAT! It was so wonderful that we went out and bought a Dyson of our own; now we don't have to remove long blonde hair from the roller to get it to work.
