Good Morning: I have an older Kenmore Dryer with the serial # of : 77982600 and the belt broke. I can get the new belt but am wondering how it goes on. Do I have to remove the felt belt on the backside?...

dont mess with the felt on the drum... pop the top of the dryer. 2 clips hold it down.. use a screw driver to pop it. then take out screws on the front and bottom to remove the front part of dryer with the door . now put the belt around the drum put front on. then comes the fun part feeding the belt through pully tensioner good luck remove back to get to belt pully /tensioner

A circular belt came out of the back of the dryer?

The drive belt broke. ou need to replace the drive belt. Remove the back panel and you will see a motor and a pulley, attach the new belt there and it will work just fine. Here is a website to get the belt that is right for your unit.

Kenmore Series 80 Dryer. Heats doesn't spin clothing. Imagine its a belt or spin motor. Need a schematic

No need for a schematic, there are two kenmore dryer belts, 'full size' or 'apartment size', if it is a belt you will be able to here the motor racing unloaded, turn heat to cold before testing, dont want to blow a thermal fuse.

Kenmore dryer comes apart from the front,
  • UNPLUG dryer 220V is not fun
  • remove the lint screen
  • remove the screws under the lint screen holding the case top to the screen holder
  • with a putty knife or other blunt blade release the catches at the front corners of the top and raise top
  • remove screws holding front of case on, from inside the dryer
  • remove door switch cables
  • lift front of case off and set aside,
  • can reach motor, belt, felts and rollers.
  • broken belt will be obvious, lying on the floor
If belt is broken, examine rollers and felt bearings for wear, stuck rollers or no felt left, is the most common cause of belts breaking, extra tension is required to spin the drum, If damaged replace them, they are cheap and easy to do, and it woud be no fun if another belt broke quickly

reasemble after repair in reverse order.

Back of dryer

Always disconnect power
  • Kenmore,
the Front comes off, the back is fixed and rigid.
  1. remove the lint screen
  2. remove the screws that hold the lint screen holder to the lid
  3. there are spring clips at the front corners that can be pressed in with a putty knife or other blunt blade to unlock the top cover.
  4. raise the top
  5. there are screws either side of the front, inside the case points to the front heads to the rear, remove them,
  6. unplug the door switch, lift front off drum and supports and away.
reassemble in reverse

easy access to drum to remove it and replace felt ring, rollers belts.
When you replpace the belt, you should check the felt bearing around the open end of the drum, and the pully/idler wheels as well.
Often the cause of the belt breaking is the extra force needed to turn the drum when the felt or rollers are fubar.

Kenmore 90 seies belt replacement

you have to remove the top and front panel,if you have a top lint filter remove the two lint screen filter screws, pull the top toward you and up,lint screen inside, most pull forward and up,so you might have to remove the two console head screws(one on each side, flip up and remove 4 more screws, now disconnect the door switch, now remove the 2 screws on the front panel top 1 on each side, now pull up and off, remove any other wires that might go to the door, now pull the drum out,now look down at the motor pulley wheel and the idler wheel, the belt goes around the drum, now put the drum back in place, now put the belt under the idler wheel and up onto the motor pulley, replace everything and your done-mike
