Question about Behringer Consumer Guitar Package

1 Answer

My package came with a behringer ac108 amp. The amp makes a crack sound when switched on and there is a continuous humming sound which at first is quiet but then gets louder even when the volume or any of the other knobs are up or down. AND to top it all off, when I switch it off, it makes a really loud electrical crack sound through the speaker. This is not normal is it? It was like this when I bought it from new through someone on ebay which was sent from Ebuyer. Now, the ebay person will not get back to me and ebuyer says that any returns need to come from the ebay guy so i'm stuck. Can I fix this problem myself? ( or rather my brother who knows a bit about electronics)

Just check for damage capacitor, specially electrolytic capacitor near the rectifying diodes... or check the grounding....

Possibel PSU Issue?

Could be a failing power supply as you suspect. You don't indicate the age of the equipment, but that could be a factor.

I replaced the transformer and fuse which is in a sealed compartment above the power supply connection in djx 700 (behringer) and still have humming in the new transformer

Transformers rarely fail... you wasted money on that... Likely one of the rectifier diodes/module or filter caps has shorted. Continued use will burn out the transformer. It is humming because it is overloaded with failing components.

My Behringer Ultrabass BX600 has a very loud, constant hum. I tried a new power cord, and speaker along with checking the internal parts for a burn spot and tight fit to no avail.

It is likely the power amp chip has shorted. This puts the unregulated dc into the speaker and you will hear the hum. DO NOT operate this way as you can burn up the speaker. You will find that the LM3886 chip on the heatsink has failed. They are about $7.30 from Digikey. They come in two lead bent versions. Make sure to get the correct version and use heat sink grease wheen installing.

Is my Behringer Powered Mixer PMP2000 cooling fan suppose to run continuosly. It has a distracting hum in our small church. I don't remember it always running (fan) when we first started using it? Help :-[

Sorry, the fan is thermally controlled and USUALLY will run at low speed when unit is lightly loaded. In hot weather or driven hard it will run faster and louder.

Whatever you do, do NOT block airflow... these are a dual 400 Watt continuous amp (600 a side peak) and they need to breathe !!!

If you can duct cool air to it, that will help. You could also try sound absorbing baffles while maintaining adequate clearance for airflow.

Type pf op amp in a Behringer XENYX 1204USB Mixer and a Mackie - 1202-VLZ3

Behringer uses 4580's in appropriate packaging everywhere. There are 339 comparators for the level indicator area.

The Mackies uses both NJM2068 and NJM4560M

The 2068' are used in most of the low noise areas and the 4560 is used in the 75Hz high pass filter for example.

Not likely you can get them to fix this. Either complain to the music store where you got it or use a Dremel tool to grind the ends smooth... the latter is probably the quickest thing.
