Question about Maytag Dryers
OK boys and girls i got a problem on a costumers dryer and i cant figure it out, i tried with whirlpool what a joke that was.
the dryer is about 4 year old, i first cleaned the coin sensor, and passed some quarters thru it and it counted down to 1.00 then reset it self to 1.50.
I took apart and cleaned the coin drop. same thing. i did everything i could think of.
I then took the coin drop and sensor out of the working just fine washer next to the dryer and swapped it out. SAME PROBLEM BOYS AN GIRLS.
so i came to the conclusion the micro processor was defective. i replaced it with a brand spanking new one FSP number 3300005.
i then dropped a few coins in it it did it again. then it stopped resetting and worked fine and i maxed it out with coin and dryer time and it appeared to work just like it should.
now i get a call and it is doing the same thing.
I told my account i would come back tomorrow , so i hope i can get an answer tonight the 5-5-2010. why this rig is counting down a few coins then resetting and sometime not even registering coin movement.
I asked my buddy from MO that has a repair biz in Springfield MO and he wasn't really sure wither
(1)I dont think it to be a sensor since the other one from washer did same thing.
(2) can the coin drop be messed up even thou it is working fine, and maybe not letting the coin run the correct speed to the sensor and then throwing it off. but then again it did the same with the washer coin drop.
(3) could there be a bad wire??
(4) the door switch works fine.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: Coin in dryer
The coin is probably rattling against the blower fan. First, unplug the dryer or turn off the main breaker. There are live voltages present inside a dryer even with the power shut off. Then, follow these steps: 1. Take out the lint screen. 2. Remove the lower kick panel under the door. There are a couple of screws under the front. The panel should pull straight down then come off. 3. Remove the blower fan housing. There will be 2 to 3 screws holding it in place. NOTE: If you did not take out your lint screen in STEP 1 you will know why I told you to take it out. The blower fan housing won't come off with the lint screen in place. Once you have the panel off you will be able to access the blower fan, and anything else that as gotten trapped inside the housing. This would be a good time to clean as well. Reassembly in the reverse order of what I just explained to you. Good luck and I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: longest 6 minutes ever
I wiped off the two rows of sensors located behind the lint trap inside the drum. Now my dryer shuts off at 0 minutes. The clothes are still a little bit damp so I let the dryer run for 10 more minutes. Try it before replacing the computer board.

lets see hear,..when your dryer starts do you hear two clicks or one.the first click is the motor centrifugal switch the second is power going to the gas valve and energizing the coil.if only one click.you need to check the fuse in the back of the dryer .its white ,i call it a missile and it has two wires too it .you can put those wires together and isolate with tape and if problem unit will run.if that was the problem you need to make sure all venting is clean also inner dryer air channels, but it sounds like you checked those.if two clicks your ignitor may have failed.you check that with a volt meter 110 volts i hope that gives you somthing to run with . God bless ,tom
