Cuts on and of then wont come back on at all for a

Kennmore Progressive Whisper Belt #116 20612003. Cuts on and off after a few minuets then shuts down compleatly. I read about the overload protector in the canister and has to reset but what could be causing it to do this. The power mate protector seems to be fine.

I had to slightly widen power plugs on hose by inserting knife blade between their segments so that they make better contact.

My Kenmore Progressive Whisper Belt canister vacuum is not "whispering." In fact, it makes excessive noise during operation - much more than the older Kenmore model that it replaced. I have replaced the...

Probably either bearings in the roller brush, a damaged fan blade, or the bearings in the motor. Take the roller brush off completely, and run the VAC without it. If it's much more silent, then the problem is with the bearings in the roller brush. If it's still noisy, then look closely at the fan that produces the suction, if you can. If you see any damaged blades, then you'll have to replace it. If it seems fine, then it's most likely bearings in the main motor that will have to be replaced. The bearings and the fan blade are NOT expensive parts, but the labor at a shop to change the main bearings would be kinda pricey.

The belt is worn/stretched to the point that it cannot take the load on low level setting due to more resistance against the carpet and there is also no signifagant difference between the two belts except for expecting a longer belt life from the whisper belt. While it is apart make sure there is no hair or carpet strands in the rollers and around the belt pulleys

Hoove Cyclonic Bagless vacuum shuts off after only a few minutes

The motor has a protective overload cutout device to stop it from over heating - this can be caused by a blockage of some sort in the hose or brushroll compartment or blocked filters.
After checking the above and it still cuts out, take it back under gurantee
