Question about Microscan MS-860 Fixed/Industrial Barcode Scanner - P/N FIS-0860-0004 (FIS08600004)

Open Question

My Canon MX 860 shows error 5100: "Printer error has occurred. Turn off power then back on again. If problem persists see the manual." Turning off the power does not resolve the problem; when I turn off and then back on, I can print one document (can print several copies and several pages completely) but cannot print another document without the error message reappearing. Manual is MIA. What to do?

SOURCE: Hello, I have a Canon Pixma

Turn off printer.
Remove both the cartridges from the printer. Use a clothe moistened with alcohol to clean the surface contact on the cartridges where the terminals inside the printers touches.
Return the cartridges and turn on the printer.

Error 5100 means that the cartridge can not be detected by the printer.

Hope it helps1

The grinding noise would be a clue that something needs to be put right before the reset would work!

Open the cover and check the paper has not jammed or cartridge has not been placed correctly.......remove cartridge and replace! Then turn off power and back on again!

Error shows on the MX870's screen saying, "Printer Error has occured. Turn off power then back on again. If problem persists, see the manual." Printer was restarted, and the message still shows.

Look in your manual under troubleshooting. If you do not have the manual, reply to this message with the make of your printer and we may be able to locate a downloadable manual for you.

You need to carefully clean the encoder strip. It's the clear strip behind the carriage that runs all the way from right to left. A damp Q-tip should remove any grease or fingerprints.
