1.you may have lost the driver for this mouse and will have to load or update the driver in the "Device Manager" in the "mouse and pointing devices".
2. this is located by clicking the Windows Orb" if Windows 7 then click "Control Panel" then to "Hardware and sound"
click "Device Manager" Tab.
In Windows XP >> Start >> Control panel >>> Prerformance and Maintenance >> Device Manager".

Go into the BIOS. When you first turn on the laptop there will be an option to go into the BIOS. Should be like F1, F2, something like that.

After you go into the BIOS go ahead and reset the BIOS to factory defaults, it will tell you what key to press to do that. After that let the laptop go back into windows. Check the device manager and see if the mouse shows up. If it doesn't then that means the ribbon cable for the mouse pad might be loose underneath it where it connects to the motherboard.

If you can get to that then take it out and the reseat it. If you go thru my steps and you notice that the mouse is recognized but not moving. Hold down the Fn key and then as your doing that press the key that has the mouse icon on it, that should get the mouse cursor to move.

How do i restat my laptop 610 compaq it has been stacked on touchpad?

restat?
stacked?
i have no idea these words? elaborate please .
tell what you do right and it does, wrong (a story)

my wild guess is the touch pad is failing
and no usb mouse attached,(hand held mouse)
that?
what OS is this , XP?

The mouse pad can be bad.
so can the mouse pad driver be corrupted , missing or wrong one installed.

start by telling the helper what OS,
click the (CP) control panel, click system'
the OS you run is presented to you there, in words.
windows what.
then CP (again, then click device manager)
under "Mice and other pointing devices."
see the mouse pad there, the driver there must not be
missing
or red or yellow marks ore UNKNOWN.

there are more tests and actions, but I stop here,
or get it repaired in a PC repair shop. (captain obvious sorry)

Here's a guide;
What do the battery lights mean on my mouse? Some keyboard and mouse models feature a battery light that shows the current status of the batteries. The following table describes the different lights and states.

Toshiba satelite laptop mouse not working

Device Manager is where you want to go to see if something is wrong with it. You know also, I'm not sure if any other Toshiba has this built in it. Like on some HP, they have a button just to the top of the touchpad. If you hit it, it turns off the touchpad. Hit it again, its back on.
I’m pretty it doesn’t. If the button is not there, then it might be just your touchpad is dead or loose cable on the inside.

Let me know

Aspire 3610 USB ports

I think you might have a loose cononection for the data ports. Try putting a little bit of force on the usb device. Up, down left right. NOT ALOT. If it starts working when force is used, i tihnk you should try to take it apart and resolder the connections. If it dosen't work, uninstalling the driver and installing.

Aspire 3610 USB ports

Device manager shows the USB port if they are attached to you notebook. And in your case they are attached. So it will show it. Now in your case the problem is in your USB. Get it changed. If it is in warranty peroid then dont u take any risk. Let it be replaced. Or give your notebook in warranty period to the company from which you bought.
