I got my device second hand and did not get a sdcard i am assuming that I need one for it to work. Can I use a new one and down load what I need on it from this site

Most GPS have internal memory to load one map.
you use SD Card for more maps; or pics or music etc.

Try to use with out sdcard and find what map is loaded.

can you verify brand name? does not appear to a popular brand.

It will light up and you can see garmin and start to load then it will load about a fourth of the way and then stop and do the same thing...will not fully load

It looks like GPS is unable to complete loading the firmware and maps. According to this website , there is a mandatory firmware update for your GPS for which you need to send in your GPS to Garmin for repair.

My navigation system in my 07 camry keeps telling me the address doesn't exist when I know it does. It won't find any address

If your GPS is not finding any address, then the most likely cause is that the wrong country map is loaded or the map is corrupted as finding an address does not rely on getting any satellite signals (your GPS should at least show your home location or the last known position on the 'correct' map): I suggest that you look at your specific GPS user manual to find how to check that you have the correct map loaded: if it is the case, then find the instruction on how to 'reset' your GPS as its software may be corrupted.
Hope it helps.

MAPS DISAPPEARED!

Nope it disnt wipe them out, you did possibly when you put songs and things on the same area as the maps usually the root directory.
It is inadvuisable to put music on t6he GPS unless it has an SD card slot that allows for music to be loaded separately. I am sure it dont play music when it navigates anyway, so its a bot of a gimmick and a dangerous practice to use anything but maps on your GPS. get an Ipod or another device for your music. The cars may have also been placed in the wrong folder so check that they are where they should be

Gps

maybe its telling the truth!

Did you try installing a new update or a pirate map recently, or did this just happen?
many GPS state they can hold music and photos, ALWAYS use a separate card for this as numerous times maps become damaged by people writing music and pics to the card or memory. Maps get overwritten. Use the CD that came with your unit to reinstall maps

The manual is helpful isn't it?

Your music and pictures need to be installed onto a SD memory card. Take an empty card and copy the MP3 or pictures onto the card. Install the card into the GPS. Use the correct player (for pics or MP3) and see if it detects the music on the memory card.

It seems like it works the same way if you were to put music or photos onto a Palm. It may need a special folder on the card to read the photos or MP3s. I would put it into the GPS first, let the GPS format it, and see if it creates folders for them.

I would recommend taking out the SD card that is located on the side of the GPS. Using an SD card adapter, you can transfer music and pictures with Windows explorer.
