A7V600-X mb, Win XP SP3, microphone not working

I have A7V600-X motherboard, I just instaled Win XP SP3 and all drivers needed (including SoundMax) and the microphone is not working, seems system doesnt detect it. Before, I had Win XP SP2 on same machine and I had realtec AC97 instaled, but now, windows dont want to let it instal, because it isnt subscribed by Microsoft (??) and instalation causes BSOD with portcls.sys error. Any ideas how to fix this?

Skip my reply above; didn't work. The BSOD is very erratic, so its hard to be sure. Try DLing the latest Realtek HD Audio drivers

Sound Card

Hi izhet19,
click on this link from Asus for the sound driver for the
A7V600-X motherboard;
http://support.asus.com.cn/download/download.aspx?modelname=A7V600-X&SLanguage=en-us
You'll need to click the drop-down menu & click on your operating system from the list. Than click Search Button.
Click the + sign next to Audio.
Create a folder on your desktop & name it Audio.
Download the audio driver, " SoundMax Audio Driver version 5.12.01.3663 WHQL driver for Windows 98SE,ME,2000,XP ", file name, WDM_3663.zip " Save the file WDM_3663.zip ", into the Audio folder you created .
You'll need Winzip to uncompress the file: WDM_3663.zip.

Download Winzip 12 trial version at this next link;
http://download.cnet.com/WinZip/3000-2250_4-10003164.html
Once uncompressed you can run the driver software.
Make sure you have the Audio enables or set to Auto in your bios.

Good luck!

Afetr upgrading WIN XP SP3, we have sound problem .Its not installed. please help

When you installed the service pack 3 it did not include a driver that matched your soundcard. You just need to reinstall the driver for your soundcard. If you don't know what driver you need you can download drivermax to find it for you. This is a free program and is available online. Hope this helps you.

I have a new asus p6t motherboard. No audio.

Install your audio driver for your motherboard.

Go to Asus Downloads

In the "Input Model to Search" box in the upper left, type your motherboard model. (P6T)

Click the Search Info button.

You will get a page that has 6 versions of the P6T motherboard. Select the correct one.

A window will open asking for your operating system. Select it from the drop-down menu. Click Search.

The list of available drivers will open. Click the x next to Audio.

There are 3 choices. 2 are for Reatek and 1 is SoundMAX. I would try the top Realtek driver first.

Click on the "Global" link to download it. When the Download window opens, Save it to your computer where you know how to access it after the download. For ease, you can select Desktop and save it there.

After the download, close all programs and run (double-click) the file you downloaded. Reboot after the install.

Should this driver not work, comment back and we'll try the SoundMAX.

You have to find exact motherboard or at least chipset model. Try to use Everest to find your motherboard and from Everest you'll have link for downloading drivers for your PC.

Updated audio drivers

Hi ppaulo,
All the current drivers (Latest for Asus), listed for the Asus A7V600-X motherboard are at this link;
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=A7V600-X&SLanguage=en-us
Click the plus sign on the left of Audio. You might want to save this main link to you're favorites.
You listed (adi 1688 audio driver) but the A7V600-X MB uses SoundMAX Audio.

Good Luck ppaulo!
If you have trouble installing just let me know.
