Garmin Street Pilot III map source data card not accessible
My 128 meg data card is not being read by the street pilot. When I put the card in the reader and reformat it & then download maps to it, It still will can not be read by the unt. I tried hooking up the street pilot to the computer through the seriel port, but the unit says there is no card in the unit. Does anyone have an idea how to fix it I've tried cleaning the area where the card sits, but I have not opened the unit up.

Re: Garmin Street Pilot III map source data card not...
Garmin has issues with the newer (ROHS Compliant) cards, so If you recently bought this card get a replacement from garmin.
I had these issues too with a 256 MB, garmin replace the card with 2 128MB cards, worked fine after that.

Most stock units are equipped with a US & Canada map if purchased in the US. Yes, the unit will work in Italy but you will need to add a Europe Map on an SD card, as the internal memory may not be large enough to hold both maps.
I'm not sure if the street pilot is the same as the garmin nuvi. There are details of how to unlock Garmin Nuvi satnav maps at http://www.fixya.com/support/r6197735-no_detailed_maps_found_support_routing There's more information there than you'll need but you can skip to the part on unlocking maps. I'd imagine the street pilot wouldn't be a whole lot different from the nuvi as they're both made by garmin.
after i send the map with mapsource from first minnutes is not seen the detailed maps what were transferred but after the receiver catch signal it apears my map detailed i put gmasupp.unl file to garmin folder from microsd with key from keygen 1.5 i dont know if its necesary but its working with road 2008 romania @ europe nt v9
i had a simalar problem -i asked for an update off garmin and they sent me a disc with apdated maps but didnt tell me i had to first delete the loaded maps you will have to go on the garmin website and order the FREE update disc for uk and ireland and just follow the instructions when you recieve it hope it works for you ;>)
Are the maps unlocked? You need to enter a 25 digit keycode to unlock the maps, before you download them to the memory card. What size card do you have? This since there are issues with the 256 MB cards/SP3 that have been sold the last two years. Garmin Will replace these cards with two 128 MB cards
The only way to update the maps is to purchase new maps from Garmin and download them via the computer. The 2008 map updates are currently available, and Garmin has told me new maps will be out in a few months.
Sometimes going to Garmin's web site can help answer questions like this. Garmin has discontinued the StreetPilot 2610, which means it has not been produced for some time. This is from the manual of the 2610/2650:
CD-ROM: Accepts downloadable map detail from
Garmin PC-based MapSource® City
Navigator™ DVD (included), which
provides street-level detail, addresses,
listings of nearest restaurants, hotels,
ATMs and more. Note: Requires
