Refrigerator leaking water - can I just shut off water to frig or will that affect its ability to cool?

Shutting off the water to the water dispenser will not affect it's ability to cool. The refridgerator is cooled by a closed freon system not related to the water coming into it for the dispenser.

The water does not come out of the cool water dispenser and ice cubes come out when the water dispenser is pushed.

You may have an issue with the "electronic dispenser control board". Also, check your "water reservoir" located in the fresh food area (lower rear area) to ensure that the water is not frozen (if frozen, this will prevent water from dispensing at external dispenser).

Contact an appliance service company.

Water dispenser quit dispensing but the ice maker still makes ice

Chances are that one of the 2 valves in the assembly is bad. It is on the refrig in back, where the water supply line connects. remove the connector to the water dispenser valve (the other is for the icemaker) and connect a jumper power cord to it and then to the wall outlet, momentarily. If water comes out the dispenser, then the valve is good but the switch on the door is bad. If the valve does not hum, the valve is bad.
I have seen the water dispenser lines freeze in the back of the refrigerator, near the water cooling tank or coils, preventing dispensing of water.

Warm water is coming out of new refrigator water

Is there a coil of tubing inside the refrigerator? This is how they usually cool the water. If you use a lot of water through the dispenser, the water will become warm.

I hope that this helps.

The water in the in-door dispenser is coming out hot

If this freezer is like most, the water going to the dispenser is looped around many times in the refrigerator section near the back. Make sure that this is still true. It must have a lot of water cable in the refrigerator section so that the water has time to cool down before it goes out the dispensor. If for some reason the water tube is touching either the compressor motor or another hot part of the external refrigerator it could cause it to be to hot to cool down in time during its travel through the refrigerator as well as it will start to warm up the refrigerator section as well.

Also, I am sure you have tested, but make sure that you are plugged into the cold water supply and not the hot water supply. Check the water at the connector and see what the temp is at that point before it enters the refrigerator.

My guess is that the coil of water tubing that is usually in the back of the refrigerator section has been either lessend in length or the water entering the refrigerator is too hot to be cooled down in time before it reaches the dispenser.
