When you open the side door and look into the machine look down to where the paper comes up from the paper trays there is a small finger sensor there that sometimes get paper stuck in it if the paper was pulled from beneath. as long pair of tweezers should get it out or you can get a piece of heavier paper and feed it up from the side door at the bottom and it may dislodge the paper or make it more noticable be careful as sometimes the sensor can be knocked out of place>>>Good luck A

Have cleared paper jam and t/o printer but still indicates paper jam

Depending on the make and model of the machine any of the following may be your problem.
Check that the jammed sheet is complete and not torn or missing fragments. Any small piece can catch in a paper feed sensor and registers a paper jam. Check that the paper pickup rollers are "tacky" to touch and do not slip easily on the fingers. If your machine is duplex capable, check the duplexer tray. If it is a laser printer, remove and return the toner cartridge and re-check function. Check the fuser is clear and look for a crumpled sheet of paper leading to the fuser. If your machine will feed paper then reports a jam look along the leading edge for marks indicating where the jam may be occurring. If you have an inkjet machine, try feeding a strip of light card BACK through the paper feed path. Above all - be patient and work it through from the paper tray to the output tray one step at a time.

Why do i have a false jam reading?

I understand that you're receiving what you believe to be a 'false' paper jam on your HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One Printer. I would like to work with you today with resolving this issue. Paper jams can be real or false. The product might report a paper jam even when there is no jammed paper. A false paper jam may also be the result of having a bad paper jam at a point in time and that bad jam causing a hardware issue to the paper sensor or rollers. I am going to provide you with some additional troubleshooting steps that apply to both real and false paper jams. You did state that you already checked the paper pathway inside the printer and failed to find any evidence of paper being stuck, but please run the step-by-step troubleshooting below, even if you have already run some of the steps.

Here are the steps for clearing the path:

MY EPSON FX1180 CONTINUOUSLY BEEPS, SOMETIMES 1 BEEP, 2 BEEPS AND SOMETIMES EVEN 3 BEEPS. THE PAUSE LIGHT ALSO STAYS ON WHEN THIS OCCURS. WHAT CAN I DO TO RESOLVE??

There are several sensors and switches that could be faulty or obstructed. Make sure cover is closed - would give a "cover open" indication. Check for paper stuck inside - would give a "paper jam" indication. Especially if you have ever printed labels, you may have to dismantle a bit to clear out gummy residue that acts as a paper catcher.
