Go to Printers and Faxs in your start menu. Look and see if your printer is listed. If not choose "Add a Printer" on the left side of the window and go through the steps to install the printer. Let me know if this works.

If you go through the Faxs and Printers procces then you really won't need the disk. Usually XP already has the driver for the printer. Hope this helps some more.

and downloading the updated drivers and software for it.

Dots on print out

hi textmum,

Usually anomalies of this kind on the print output indicates that the printer is overdue for a maintenance cycle. This is due to the usual operating wear and tear the printer experiences during it's life cycle.

Seeing as how this could be an expensive operation, I suggest we first eliminate problem with the printer driver as the cause of the anomalous print output. To do this I need you to reinstall the printer on your PC using the latest drivers:

  1. Download the latest driver for your printer at
    http://www.samsung.com/za/support/download/supportDown.do?model_nm=ML-1520&mType=DR&vType=L&disp_nm=ML-1520
(be sure to select the driver which corresponds to the operating system you are running on your PC)
  2. Delete the printer from your PC
  3. Install the printer using the newly downloaded driver
If reinstalling the printer using the latest print driver doesn't result in a solution to the print output problem, we can deduce that the problem is caused by a hardware component.
To solve the hardware related problem you will need to either perform the maintenance cycle yourself or take the printer to a computer repair shop so a IT technician can do it for you. This process involves buying a maintenance kit (which contain replacement components for the printer), and replacing the components according to the maintenance kit manual.

Hope you find this information helpful in solving your printer related problem

Printer

Hello,

This page: http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?lxkprod=Z25+Color+Jetprinter will allow you to choose the driver for your specific Operating System. If running Windows, you could do a manual online update and choose "Custom" rather than "Express" and doing so will allow you to select optional software and hardware updates that will probably pick up your printer if it's connected at the time of the update

The driver is what you need from the CD to set up your printer.

I hope this helps, and Good luck.

I am trying to print from my Lexmark X73. I have reinstalled the software, but it's not installing the printer portion. It is only installing the scanner. Why is it doing that, and can I fix it?

run this clean uninstall utility

http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:94:0:0&emeaframe=&fileID=1236&searchLang=en&os_group=WinXP

download the drivers from lexmark

http://www.downloaddelivery.com/downloads/cpd/CJXP73LE.exe

plug in your printer and install the drivers.

if this does not work then extract the driver file you downloaded "CJXP73LE.exe", go to start ->settings->printer and faxes....install a new printer (make sure local printer and auto-detect are checked)...follow it through and your printer should install. if at any time it asks for drivers or you want to manually point to the drivers then browse to the location where you extracted the "CJXP73LE.exe" file. you can download a program like "winrar" (type it in google) to extract it.

WIll not print, recognizes printer but won't print

Hey there Tomhighway, the problem is related to the driver for the printer. Either you have not installed it, or the file was corrupted and did not install correctly. The solution for both situations is the same: Install the printer driver. It should have come with the printer and is specific to the manufacturer and the model #. If you do not have the installation CD, go to the printer manufacturer's website and download it. It should be free and are usually auto-install. Good Luck!
