Thanks for using FixYa.

First, try to use a different sync cable, if that doesn't work, try using a different USB port on your computer. If these still doesn't work, Try to uninstall the sync software then re-install it, make sure you install the drivers for the handheld too, these can be found on the CD that came with the handheld, if you are unable to locate the CDs, try to go to the manufacturer's website for the driver downloads. If that still didn't work, you might have some problems with the handheld's sync cable port. There are no other reasons why your handheld should be able to sync.

I hope this helps. Thanks and good day.

I have two palm treo 650s - one that i use all the time and one that i use for back up - each time i sync the back up treo from the one i use all the time, it duplicates the info on the back up - any help...

Doing this isn't too complicated, though it can be a bit frustrating to keep them straight.
The safest thing to do is backup your primary phone during a regular sync.
1. Once you have performed and completed this, then open your Palm Desktop.
2. Look to the upper left hand tab marked "Hotsync" and click it.
3. On the drop down menu, click "Custom."
4. Here's where it turns into a bit of a must now set each of the sections in this list to "Desktop overrides Handheld." To do this highlight each one then click "Change" once you do this you should have the option to override your handheld. If it doesn't appear then you simply do not have this option available. When you've completed all overrides, click "Done."
5. Click "Sync your back-up Treo as you normally would. This should make your backup identical in information to your primary.
--------------------------------- 6. Once you are ready to go back to your primary, You must go back your Palm Desktop and enter into the "Hotsync" tab and then "Custom" again. This time, however, make sure you select "Handheld overrides Desktop."
7. Once this is performed, you may hotsync your backup to your desktop.
8. After the hotsync, go back to the desktop software a final time. Go to the "Hotsync" tab and then "Custom" a final time. In each selection, choose "Desktop overrides Handheld." Click "done" when finished.
9. Finally, perform a final hotsync with your Primary phone. Once completed, it should have all your original information PLUS any new information you placed on the back up phone.
Again, I know it isn't an easy isn't as hard as it just takes some getting use to! You can do it!
I hope this helps!

Sounds like we have a little issue here. The first thing I would suggest, would be to use a different charger, maybe check to see if the electric cord is hooked up right. Try initiating a HotSync operation. Good luck!

Ibm workpad sync & port issues help!

You have your Hotsync software set to use a com port instead of USB. Right Click on the Hotsync icon on the lower right part of your PC desktop and change it to USB and you should be good to go. The IBM Workpad is just like a Palm. I have the Workpad C500 which is actually a Palm M500. If you have a Workpad C505 it is a Palm M505. Anything you can buy for a Palm M500 will work with a C500 and anything you get for a M505 will work with a C505. If you do NOT have a USB Sync cable for your Workpad I suggest you do what I did... Just get a combination Sync and charge USB cable at Staples or Best Buy for your M500 or M505 and use it. It was about 20 but you can get them cheaper on the Net. I hope this helps you!

Hotsync with XP Pro and Exchange

Good question - how to elevate your rights for a particular user. Your administrator needs to log you in under your username and temporarily grant you the rights to install software, install a driver and to write to the registry. The rights need to be left active thru the time that you perform your first HotSync operation, as this is the moment when the driver is activated (the registry entries geet written when a driver is 'enumerated').
