Re: sandisk cruzer fleu memory stick
Try it in another PC to see if it is recognised. If not, there is probably not much you can do to repair it - they are so cheap!
Have a good look at the connectors to see if they have been damaged or the solder joints broken. If so, you may be able to find a friend who can repair the stick for you.

Do you mean an 8GB SanDisk USB flash drive (thumb drive) or memory card (SD card or another type) or another SanDisk product?
If you have a flash drive, plug it into one of the 3 USB ports on the back of the laptop. If you have other devices plugged in, you may need a USB hub to add ports. (Note: hubs can fail; try a direct connection if the unit doesn't communicate.)
If you are using a memory card, you need to add a memory card reader. USB card readers are available from many shops; they will be cheaper from some online vendors compared to the big box electronics stores. Get one that supports the format of your memory card. There may be PC card slot card readers but I'm not aware of any specific models. The Inspiron/1200 supports Type I or Type II CardBus devices; 16-bit PCMCIA cards are also supported.
If you have a different item, please add a comment giving more informatiion on which SanDisk product you are connecting to the computer. I hope this helps.

Please check if write back access is activated. You can check this by looking and inspecting the USB thumb drive for a small switch. Just move it the other way around to enable write back.
