Question about Lucent PARTNER18 Corded Phone

1 Answer

We have a lucent partner phone system, and one of the phones has not been used for over a year, now we have some one in that cube. But we do not have the password that was used last, so we can't get into the voice mail and change the message or get messages. How can we fix this?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have run into this problem in the past. Power off the telephone system. Power switch is on the top (back) right of the cabinet or you can unplug it from the wall. Be carefull , if your memory battery is bad, you will lose programming on the phones.

cycling power to the system has fixed this in the past for me, if this doesnt work you may have to replace the vm card in the system.

If you are using Partner voicemail, you would just press *7 when you hear the voicemail system.

If you press *7, and do not get prompted for the extension number, you dont have a Partner voicemail.

Ringtones

As far as I know, these don't have different ringtones other than the default one. I suppose it would ring different if you have a headset plugged in, and there is a way to make it NOT ring.

Other than that, here is the User Guide from AT&T How To Use Your Partner Phone

Lucent Partner Mail VS - need cordless phone

Each of the modular jacks at the cabinet will accept a single line telephone. I don't think you can "bridge" a phone on 12 year old software, but if there is a spare jack, it will work with a plain old cordless phone. Plug one in, dial 10, and read what extension you have. Here's a manual for a 4.1 Partner system to help you program the ringing. Programming is done from the display phone at extension 10 or 11.

http://public.carl.airpost.net/Avaya/Partner_ACS.pdf

After you find the extension, save yourself the trouble and go to page 447 of the attached pdf. It details how to set the Automatic line preference and ringing of the cordless. The difference is that you will select your lines AFTER the intercom as in ** LIC RIC 1 2 3 4, or 4 3 2 1. This is important! You'll then be able to dial "9" to get an outside line in forward or reverse order and still call internally.

If you find you don't get an outside line when you dial "9", then keep reading the manual, you need to put your lines in groups.

Using intercom on Lucent partner phones

A Partner is a pretty simple system and the phones are probably all in a single calling group. Your extensions are numbered from 10 to whatever, so at the least you can grab a phone, press the intercom button and dial 0 or 10. It will ring the main phone.

From there, you can start dialing 11,12,13 etc and build your directory. IIRC pressing * in front of the number turns it into a handsfree call. Now, here's where you get to see what kind of installation you have :-) Press intercom and dial *71. With luck, every idle phone will have paging. (71 will ring every phone btw).
This does require programming and an extension can be either in or out of a group.

I do have a basic Partner ACS manual on my website. http://www.public.carl.airpost.net/Partner_ACS.pdf

The display phone users manual in in the document. Page 179 starts chapter 6, a 30 page guide to the phones.

I am trying to add phones to my Lucent / AT&T Partner system but they do not have dial tone.

No, you will need to have the company come back and "liven" up the jacks.

Sometimes there are not enough ports of the phone system to connect all the wall jacks to the system. So it is possible that you have to expand your system.
