Question about Maxtor Hard Drive
Did you check in the bios settings under the first optin?
if its note there, re-check your cables, if the problem persist contact your provider (seller), and take all the infos about the hard drive, like serials number, how many heads how many sectors....how many bites, u should see all the info you need in the bios settings. and putt them manually....
your bios might have some limitation and an update is requierd (contact your manufacturer or google if ur an advances user), or its just your hard disk.......

You will need to format the drive and put a OS on it. If you have already try checking the connection again and i think in windows vista there is a function to try and locate a new drive.
this is pretty basic info on the link but it pretty much applies to all the windows OS
