Question about Nintendo 64 Console

1 Answer

Used nintendo 64 av issue

I bought a 64 consol off ebay and just recieved it today. I hooked everything up to my tv, which has no issues with my dvd or vcr av, and I got nothing. The red power light comes on the consol but there is no picture or sound. I inspected the cable and plug in for damage and there doesnt seem to be any. I tried another tv and the same was true. Could it be just the av cable needs to be replaced or is there something else I could try to narrow the problem down?

High contrast on nintendo 64

Well I think that it might be the tv that is causing this problem then. Try fiddling with the brightness and the contrast buttons for the tv then. Also try using another rf switch and an av cable to see if the problem goes away on you if no luck then the console could be having issues.

How to connect nintendo 64 on a dish network tv

Can I connect my Nintendo to my Cable Box, my DVD, or my VCP (video cassette player)?
Your Nintendo system requires AV inputs to work. These products do not provide inputs. Connecting to them is not possible. Unless you get a blue plug for it to work then with the connection then.

Try using the av cables for N64 instead of using the rf switch then.

I bought a new AV cable for my nintendo 64 off ebay and when i plugged it in the brightness of my games were really bright

Well it could be because HDTV was not made the time N64 cameout so you would have to use a blue plug for it to work instead of the traditional av cables.

My nintendo 64 will not work. The power comes on, and the red, white, and yellow cables are in my tv, but when I turn on the AV function on the tv (which is what I always use for video games and dvd etc.)...

I would see if you can connect it to another TV so see if it works, if it does not it could be an issue with the cable. I believe Nintendo sells spare cables on their website, if not I would check craigslist/amazon/Ebay.

Bought a used gamecube....hooked it up properly, we think, but have audio only ...no video....suggestions

I suggest trying to use a different av cable from the gamecube to the tv, also try using the av cable you have on another unit, the cables are also exchangeable with the nintendo 64 av cable, so if you have a N64 laying around you can test with that cable. Good luck.

Nintendo 64 wont work on my tv

If you are using the original AV plug for the N64, it will probably not work on a new TV.  You must find a new AV plug in a store, or on eBay, Amazon, etc.  This plug must have the red, white, and yellow ends to it.  those are the color coded ends that go into the TV.

Nintendo 64 HDTV

I am not an HDTV expert but I believe they are all backwards compatible so the fact it is HD should not be a problem. Have you tried a vcr or dvd player on the same hook ups? It is possible you are trying to use a video input that is already in use? I know on my TV I have the DVD hooked up with an S-video cable to "Video 2". Right next to the S-video hookup are the red, yellow, white RCA jacks. On my TV these can't be used when the S-video is in use so I have to have the games hooked up to the front panel "Video 3". I would disconnect everything and try hooking the N64 up in each input to see if you can find one that works.
