Question about Maytag 24 in. MDB4100 Built-in Dishwasher

I don't beleive my sprayer arm is working on the bottom of DW

The dishes has water spots, water left on the dishes and sometimes they will not come clean. I know the heat works and the bottom of my DW has a dirty, grease like film and does not clean. It's like nothing washes on the bottom rack. Everything that is on the top rack is clean.
my rinse aid is full. I have ran bleach, vingar through a complete cycle with no dishes. I have a water softer that filters my water before it ever comes into my house pipes. I did a few months ago started using gel dish soap. I have now went back to cascade. Also if I have a water softer why would I need to use the rinse aid. This is a built-in EngeryStar Maytag washer only 18 months old. Yes, we run the dishwasher once a day. Have I already worn it out.

The problem is hard water and your softener must not be taken it all out. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

Gritty residue left on dishes. the middle arm doesn't seem to be working

Your sprayer arms may be clogged.
The upper arm attaches to a tube in the back of the dishwasher. If the support clamps come loose, the upper spray tube will not be flush with the tube and can't carry water to the sprayer arms. Also the sprayer arms can become clogged with paper remnants, bone fragments, or pieces of peeling. You'll need to remove the sprayer arm and flush it at your sink. If there is a jet that is clogged, tweezers will help remove the residue.
Finally, the bottom of the door INSIDE the washer often get covered with gunk. Be sure and gently wash the bottom of the door INSIDE. You can open the door, spray some window cleaner on the bottom and then gently brush away the 'gunk.' Rinse with hot water from a pitcher or your sink sprayer and this can eliminate some of the residue that is showing on your dishes.
I hope this helps. If it does, please come back to Fixya and rate my answer

I have a ge quietpower 3 dishwasher. Lately it has stopped cleaning the dishes. Sometimes the dispenser tray doesn't open. Sometimes it does open and the soap pac hasn't disolved.

Make sure your water temperature is hot enough to dissolve the soap. Generally, the water temp. should be 140 degrees. Run some hot water at the tap before you turn on the dishwasher. This will assure that hot water is in the dishwasher as soon as you start it. Be certain that there aren't any large pieces in front of the dispenser tray. Sometimes casserole dishes, frying pans or baking pans can block the door and prevent it from opening.
Also, the sprayer arms might be clogged with bone fragments, peelings, bits of paper, etc. If this is the case, you'll need to remove the sprayer arm, flush and then check the jets. If you see "stuff" in the jets, they can be remove with tweezers.
Finally, make sure the upper sprayer arm hose is securely seated with the tube in the back of the dishwasher that carries the water up to the sprayer arm hose. If these two are not seated correctly, the water will not travel into the sprayer arm hose, the sprayer arm will not turn and your dishes will not get clean! I hope this helps. If it does, please come back to Fixya and rate my advice.

My dishwasher does not clean my dishes good

You may have debris in the sprayer arm jets. It is usually simple to remove the sprayer arms. Usually in the center of the spray arm is a wing nut. Simply unscrew this to remove the arm(s). Then rinse them well using the sink sprayer for forceful water power. I have sometimes had to use a tweezer to remove bits of plastic, paper, bone, or food particles. Once you've remove the debris, rinse well forcing water through to dislodge any other debris. Once you've reattached the sprayer arms, you should have cleaner dishes. Also, some brands of dishwashers have a pipe that runs up the inside back wall and connects to a pipe that runs under the top shelf. Water flowing through this pipe under the top shelf propels the sprayer arms. If the connection at the back is not flush with the "propel" pipe there won't be enough water pressure to turn the sprayer arm. Check to see if your dishwasher has this type of set up.
I hope this works. If it does, please let Fixya know by rating my solution.
Good luck!

Not enough water pressure to move upper arms or clean dishes

Recommend you pull the bottom spray arm straight up, then out of the DW.
Remove 9 phillips screws that hold the filter shroud down. Remove the filter and clean/rinse it out.
While the filter it out, grab a flashlight and inspect all over the sump area. Especilly in the area the has the check valve that rotates (Vario motor-driven) to feed the water pressure either to the lower and then the upper arms. Watch out for broken glass! Also, inspect the impeller to see if it is undamaged and spins easily.
Reassemble, then test out.
If problems remain, the the wash pump motor is probably the culprit. Do you get any error messages on the time display?
Good Luck!

I used regular dish soap in washer and now the sprayer doesn't seem to be working. Is this an easy fix or did I blow it?

Do you mean liquid soap....as this will foam up considerably and cause a mess on your floor...like overflow problems...but even if it was this type of soap it would never inhibit the sprayer arm from working...you can take the sprayer arm off...sometimes a twist nut , sometimes a screw...and clean it as well as inspect it for debris obstructing the holes....other than that the sprayer arm is only there to direct the flow of water..the actual device that forces the water through the sprayer arm is the DW motor...does it run...do you have any water flow...is the DW filling with water...if so... or if not ..check these problems out and if everything checks out it may be a motor issue and a tech will need to be summoned....
I hope this helped to guide you.....thanks and good luck...The Fang
