Try using a USB mouse, if not try re-installing the Human Input Device driver from Device Manager.

I have a HPDV9000 Laptop and it is making a terrible loud noice, very annoying. Starts when turned on. What can it be. Thank you.

More than likely it's one of the cooling fans. They spin at relatively high RPM and if they're damaged they can emit a loud whirring or screeching noise. If it's a clicking noise then it could be your hard drive failing.

HPDV9000 GIVES 4SHORT BEEPS ON START UP. SCREEN STAYS BLANK

The laptop has a memory issue, take the memory stick out give the connection a blow to remove any dust and reposition it in the slot and reboot, if still the same problem and you have 2 memory cards installed swap them over and reboot, if still the same problem persists you will have to acquire a new memory module, take the laptop to your local pc store and get them to insert a new one for you and test it, if it still does not work then you may have to replace your motherboard.hope this helps.

Fan not working

You should replace the fan, or have a technician replace it for you. Without the fan your notebook will overheat and cause hardware failure.

Hpdv9000 laptop mouse wont work

Check if you have installed the latest drivers...
For the touchpad, you should be able to find them on the hp support site
For external mouse, there should be drivers on the manufacturers site or the driver disk that came along with it.

Is it the touchpad that doesn't work, or is it an external mouse?
