    Thank you!

Is there some way I can get the manual?

  • droowho May 07, 2010

Is it possible to get the manual somehow? Or at least the the section on the baffel as a PDF? The screen shot is too small to read.

    Thanks!

I can send it email, I do not have a way to attach it here. This manual is for the Whirlpool brand version of your model, it is very similar but will have a few slight differences

  • Philip May 06, 2010

If you want me to send email I would need the address, I do not have access to any one on file here. Thanks

  • Philip May 07, 2010

Freezer is cold, refrigerator is warm.

If your evaporator fan is working (the fan in your freezer) you might want to check the air baffle. That is located in the back of your frig section. It is most likely all the way top left. Put your hand in front of it there should be air coming through the baffle. If there is no air coming through you either left your door open and froze the inside lining if your refrigerator or your air baffle control is broken.
If you left the door open and it froze the lining the only solution is to shut it down and leave both doors open for at least 24 hours straight. There is no way to get the ice out.

My fridge keeps freezing things in the fridge

Hello,

What the most likely thing causing that is that the air damper that opens/closes to let air into the refrig. section is stuck open and too much air is entering into the ref.section allowing things to freeze, that is a fairly common thing with GE refrig's.

To fix that the air damper would need to be replaced..the exact location of it is,upper left corner of the ref. section on the left side wall at the top.

Fridge door was left opened and now the fridge wont work but freezer working fine

All the cold air comes from the freezer side so if the fridge side is not cooling then the baffle door is not opening up or it has accumilated ice in it and frozen up. I would try to unplug it for a hour or so with the doors open and let it thaw and then plug back up and let it run for a couple hours to see if that fixes it. If not then I would suggest having the baffle checked.

When you say the vent maybe blocked preventing the cold air from freezer tto reach the fridge, is the vent located in the fridge or freezer?

there are two vents, theres one to let air into the ref. sect. and one to return air to the freezer sect. Both vents should be visible from the ref section. If the return air vent is blocked then no air can come into the ref sect. also some of the inlet vents have an electronic controlled air baffle (simmular to the A/C vent on a car that you van turn on and off. If yours has one of these electronic baffles, you could need to replace the baffle or the thermostat that controls the baffle. Hope this helps.

Freezing in refrigerator

Inside the fresh food compartment on top left there is something called an air baffle. It runs between the freezer and fresh food compartment and its purpose is to electrically control the amount of cold air coming from the freezer. Sometimes they freeze open and will not close. So you may need to turn off the refrigerator during the time you examine it. Look for ice blocking the movement of the baffle damper. Sometimes just one time clearing the problem is all you need to fix it. Let me know what you find and if you are able to get it going again, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Ge refridgerator model gsl25jfpe bs

I have a gsl25jfpe bs ge regrigerator and the baffle motor that controls air flow from the freezer to the refrigerator is out. This had been causing everthing in the fridge to freeze and cause the water to stop working due to water freezing in the storage tank. The baffle is in the back top of the fridge covered with a plastic cover. Remove plastic cover to check baffle function.

Admiral side by side

All the cold air from your freezer gets pushed into the fridge with a fan in your freezer section. So your problem is from the fact that this cold air isn't get to your fridge.
- the door that allows this cold air into the fridge, normally in the top left corner of the fridge, is stuck shut and needs replacement.
-the freezer isn't defrosting and restricting the air flow
-the temp controller for the fridge is damaged and thinks that the fridge is cold enough.

Side by side..fridge is freezing up while freezer works fine

Your baffle that controls the freezer temperature is possibly broken.  If you take the cover off the dials labeled "refrigerator/freezer" the baffle is a plastic arm that controls the amount of air circulation between the freezer and the refigerator. If the arm is broken is will stay closed completely blocking the air hole or vent.  I just wedged a small piece of wood or shim in mine and it hasn't frozen up since.

Good Luck.  I know how frustrating it can be to repeatedly defrost the ice build-up.
