Question about Webcams

1 Answer

Webcam troubles I bought a new Logitech IM personal last week. I don't think anything wrong with it however, when I try to broadcast I get "A script in this movie is causing Flash Player to run slowly"-everything locks up and I have to unplug it to get going again. I have deleted Flash Player and the Logitech software and reinstalled to no avail. I'm not a tech guy and if involves changing registry or even worse editing loops or something I might in over my head. Even if I can't fix right now, be nice to know the problem. You look like maybe the right guy with lots of comp. experience and good rating. C'mon, help a brother out(smile)and up the ratings. Thanks much. Appreciate any help you might be able to give.

Sockwave flash player link.
Flash Player Active X is 9.0. just the active X means it plays thru the web browser inter-actively.

that link lets you select which browser and OS you use.

Making camera work with Yahoo Instant Messenger

Windows Media Encoder enables the ability for you to "LIVE" broadcast using your webcam utilising Windows Media Encoder 9 and your participant viewers watching you using Windows Media Player at the recieving end. So in other words, you are effectively setting up "your own" live streaming broadcasts either video, audio(such as internet radio) or both from your PC without using the likes of Skype, Yahoo, IM etc.

Go into the messenger you are using and make sure that the Audio Settings are set to you audio card. If I could connect up with your computer I could fix it in a matter of seconds. Give it a try. Bud

Unable to broadcast everything locks up

Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to besetup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up tobroadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order forthe Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able tosee and her to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows LiveMessenger:

  1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio andvideo should work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly soyou can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hopethis helps. Bud
