Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I just received a replacement video card since my first one went bad. After I installed it and tried to play a game, I noticed black and red color streaks going up the screen. Could this video card be bad as well? It is a GeForce 9800 GT PCI-E.

Tv screen turns black and red when playing through pioneer receiver

Usually when I hear of solid colors that display on a TV, my first solution would be to change the cable. We know your DVD player is working as you connected it straight to your TV and you report no problems. I assume you are using a composite cable (red, white, and yellow) Red and White being the Audio and Yellow your video.

But since your player works...and your tv works under the same input, then the only other issue would be the output cable from the receiver or the actual composite input or output connector is faulty.

try a video game system in place of the dvd player through your receiver..if it happens again, then change the receiver's output cable...if it still persists then your reciever's output connector is faulty.

I hope this helps.

If your using a tuner for your TV channels and you are using component video cables make sure that the red cable is not plugged into the audio socket. red blue and green cables should all be plugged into the "component" input on the tv not audio.

Either the AV cords are bad or the AV connection itself is bad. Try replacing the cords first. If this doesn't fix the problem, then you will need to contact Microsoft and ask about a repair order.

This issue occurs if the video card installed in the Computer doesn't meet the video requirements to play the game. You can visit the Computer's manufacturer website to check for any updated driver for the video card installed in the Computer.

more info ... model of laptop, year it was made, how much RAM you got and video card it's using?

did ya also try un-installing game, un-installing the video driver, cleaning your registry, restarting the laptop, re-installing video driver from tosiba's driver website page then re-installing the game (downloading the newest video drivers from Nvidia may cause a B.S.O.D. install at your own risk if you do so) ...

or playing around with the resolution either thru the O/S display properties or in the game video options??

Give that a try and let me know how it goes ...

Sounds like a bad video card.A video inverter could cause distorted graphics but usually it turns out to be the graphics card.

Install new video card on Ubunutu

You need to install the graphics card, start the system, install the drivers that came with the video card then restart. This should fix all the color and line problems.

Only plays in black&white

Allot of times one of the video RCA connections can go bad.

Replace the RCA Video wire, Yellow. If you have component (RGB), this is a common problem when the wires are crossed. The Blue is the B/W feed and one of the other Green/Red, may be bad or crossed. If you haven't changed any wires since the color went out, it is still possible that one of the wires jiggled loose. If you have S-video, try replacing that. When I say replace, maybe check the connections are plugged in well first, then replace.

Hope that helps!

Does not display red

Liviman,
I would first think that this is a monitor problem. You didnt say if it is a CRT or LCD monitor. Check the pins on both ends of the cable.
If it is a CRT monitor I would say the red electron gun went bad.

If you can take the Video card and try it in another computer to make sure that it is bad.
Keep us posted,
thanks
