Question about Honeywell HFT-114B Super Turbo Table Fan

1 Answer

Our oscillating box fan is now making screechy noises. Currently I am putting it on high to get it going for a bit, then I can bring it back down to low. I figure it's just dropping some WD40 or cleaning it from the inside, but the screws used are not standard and I can not get the fan open. Any suggestions?

Hi, if you go to a car spares shop you should be able to buy a cheap accessory screwdriver kit that should have the correct adapter you need to undo the screws,

but as for using wd40 i wouldnt go that route as wd40 is an easing spray and not a lubrication, it would stop the noise for few days but then it would make it worse as the wd40 would dry up any grease or oil that is their, instead use some spray lube you can also buy this from a car spares shop or you could use something like machine oil or petrolium jelly to grease it up with this will then stop the noise and it should also work a bit better as it will be able to turn a bit easier

mcdevito75 here, Sounds like that oscillating swtich is either a little loose or could use a drop or 2 of 3 in 1 oil. Try to twist offf the oscillating swatch button and see if you can tighten it or put a drop of oil on it.

Hi. We have a screechy noise coming from front,

I raised the right-hand end of the long component with rotating vanes in it by wedging a piece of folded floor vinyl under it . I assume that this has put renewed tension onto the drive belt at the other end. Now I am seeking a new part in order to make a permanent repair.

Noisy table fan - Vornado silver swan

the electric motor bearings and/or brushes have worn. soft metal screws is an indication of the quality of the motor.not good. sometimes units are of nice design, look and high price but they throw in a cheap chineese motor. all you can do is put a few drops of oil on the motor bearings, its ok to do when this worn out
