I replaced my starter for my van, but it still wont start, yet all the lights and windows work perfectly fine. what could it be?

Check your battery voltage. It may be enough to operate the accessories but not enough to start the engine. Use a volt meter on the battery or buy a plug in volt meter that can be used in the cigarette lighter. Auto stores sell them. The voltage reading should be a minimum 12 volts, if it drops below 10 volts while turning the ignition key, then the battery needs to be charged or replaced. Good luck!

I plugged into a 24volt vehicle,It blew fuse which i replaced,Now it wont even turn on when plugged in.

Bummer, unfortunately, even though the fuse is designed to protect the unit it is still possible to damage the unit before the fuse blows. Fuse blow based on (amps x volts). I am not an electrical engineer but amps x volts = watts. This is ohms law. If the device is designed to run on 12 Volts and you plugged it into 24 something fried.
Now is a good time to take out the tools and see how it works. It may be very obvious, with a magnify glass to see at least one burn part. The bad news is the new boards use such small components that even if you can identify the burned out part, you may not be able to replace the part.
The good news is there is a possibility that you can replace the bread board, however there will be no warrantee.

110 volts philipps tv plugged into 220v outlet, a spark was emitted by the wall outlet to which the extension was plugged what happens now?

Now you go buy a new TV. The 220 volts will have burned out the power board that supports the TV and maybe some other components. Unless it is a very expensive TV, you are better off buying a new one rather than trying to repair the old one.

Power supply card PLHL-T722A, 2300KEG033A-F, had a blown fuse F101 (T1AH250VP). Replaced fuse with T1AL250V. Plugged tv into wall, and resistor R5 lit up and started smoking. Thus pulled plug out...

We sell a repair kit for this board, which has the fuse, resistor and the IC that usually fails along with them.

You can find it at .

I've seen that board fail in at least three different ways, though, and this is the least bothersome of them.

We offer a repair service and have about 90% success even with burned boards. You don't pay any service fees if we can't fix the board.

Finally, when available we also sell boards ready for use with a trade-in option. That ends up a little more costly than a repair, though.

Whirlpool gas dryer: 120 volt plugged into a 220 volt plug. Dryer will no longer show power for machine. inside light does come on when plugged back into 120 volt receptacle. Has the dryer burnt up?

may have burned the motor out.... if this unit has a control board on it most likely would have shorted it out first if a standard/basic gas dryer will a timer knob then power would have either burned timer,or motor up first.... good luck to you that really stinks....

Ps2 110 volts and i plug it in 220 volts

hi if your saying you have got an american or other ps2 that runs off 110v and you have plugged it into a 220 volt mains supply then the chances are the ps2 is now fried, if it was like an xbox and had a power pack then it would only be the power pack at fault, how ever as the ps2 plugs direct to the mains then the chance of getting this working is pretty slim unless you replaced most parts on the circuit board, what i would do is sell it as faulty and buy another one as it would cost more to get this fixed than it would to get it replaced.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

please rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

I have a 1998 Sonoma truck which after the engine warms up and I get to 20 mph, the rpm gauge shows 3000 rpm, but the engine has no power. It burns a lot of fuel. What do you think is my problem?

If you can have the codes read from the on-board diagnostics, Autozone do this for free. This should indicate the system at fault. In the absence of a code your symptoms indicate a faulty MAP (manifold absolute air pressure) sensor. THe MAP sensor has a three wire plug to it. You will need a volt meter. The outer pins are reference 0 volts and 5 volts. The middle pin is signal output to the ECU it should be about 1.3 volts at idle. If the MAP fails ie no signal then the ECU reads this as 'LOW VACUUM' and assumes the engine is under load (throttle fully open - hence no inlet vacuum) it responds by increasing injection times and this leads to bad fuel economy and a lumpy unresponsive engine (always too much fuel and not enough air) After these checks visit a breakers yard and source a replacement MAP sensor (should be less than $5) and fit it. If this fixes the problem you may wish to consider buying a new one ($25 on ebay), but if money is tight (when isnt it?) run it until the symptoms again appear again i.e. the recycled replacement is dead.

Burned video card & motherboard HP Pavillion 9000 series

There is some info here
Looks like you are looking at $400 for a replacement.
If that is the case, it would probably cost less to buy a new laptop/2nd user and sell your broken laptop on a site like ebay for repairs, plenty of people looking for replacement parts

Hope this is of some help, even if it is not the best of news.
Good luck

Same problem here.

If you're only reading .18 volts DC at the charger itself, then it's time to replace the charger.
It's probably some inexpensive Electrolytic Capacitors inside the charger that have bit the dust.

Here's info about Electrolytic Capacitors,

Both sites relate to computer motherboards and computer power supply's, but know, that there has been a problem with 'Caps' for all kinds of electronic components, no matter what they are, therefore these same visual signs of failure apply. (Sorry about the run on sentence!)

Roadmate 2000 power supply over-voltage

The roadmate operates on five volts dc. Look at the back of the unit and it says so there. Inside the cig lighter plug that comes with the roadmate 2000 is a transformer that converts 12 v dc to five v dc. You used the wrong charger and put twelve volts across a unit that only handles and requires five volts.
Check to be sure that you used the correct charger. it sounds like you did not. It may be possible that the charger was still wet or was damaged when wet and that it shorted out.
Radio shack sells a charger for the car that is made for magellin roadmate 2ooo. It includes several different tips including the one that fits this gps unit and the output is five v dc. It is possible that what you smelled was the charger cord and not the gps unit itself.
I used the wrong charger on mine and had a similar problem. I bought this charger and all is well. radio shack cat no is 20-151. Get it soon because it is on sale for about thirteen dollars and is discontinued. As of today, sat jan 12, 2008 they still have them in stock at most stores. You can call ahead or look online and it will even tell you which stores have them, or you can order online as well.
No, if it is the gps unit titself, do not try to mess w the circuit board. Its cheaper to buy a new one. good luck to all w similar problems and ALLWAYS check to see that voltage and ac or dc symbols, as well as polarity, match up. If not bring your electronics to radio shack Before powering up and they can check all of this ffor free if you are unsure.
