Question about Poulan Pro 16-Inch 38 cc Anti-Vibration Chainsaw #PP3516AVX

Oil leaking when not on use

My chainsaw continues to leak oil even after it has sat in the box for a long time how do I find how to stop it from leaking. Someone said there was a screw that you can tighten so you dont have as much oil going to the chain.

That will not stop it Ray and not all saws have adjustable oilers If you are using up a tank of fuel and the oil tank is almost empty it is set correctly. Your OM recommends draining the oil tank before putting it up. I have 7 saws. 6 of them weep if stored with oil in the tank; I suspect as the one that does not ages it will weep too.

If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. HTH & Good Luck.

Gary, not sure what oil you are talking about for sure, if it is chain/bar oil it is suppose to leak/lube chain while it is running.

Baumr chainsaw leaks bar oil

Often times the oil reservoir develops cracks. The oil then leaks out. This is especially true if the saw is used in winter and the oil pressure knob is pressed continuously. The pressure knob pushes against the cold britle oil reservoir and cracks it. The oil then leaks out. Get the manual and order a new oil reservoir and install it yourself.

Oil leak mcculloch electramac em250 ?

You have a cracked tank, or busted chain oiler. Will have to take apart to view the chain oiler , and check if oil is puddling just under the oil tank. There is some epoxy sealers, or gas tank stop leak material that can possibly repair the busted or leaking oil tank.

I have a 359 chainsaw leaks lots of chain oil even when not running

It will never be completly leak free, if it is bad it could be a number of things, first check the oil pick up hose behind the pump, if this is a poor fit in the crankcase it will leak oil from around the sides, worst case is a leak from the crankcase gasket itself, this would require a full strip down, try draining the oil tank and re filling with cleaning fluid, as this is much thinner you will see very quickly from where it is comeing.

Bar oil leaks into storage case when chainsaw not in use???? Poulan Prow, PP4620 AVX 46 cc

The easy fix is to drain the oil tank when not in use. Many saws will leak some oil initially, but should not continue to do so. If it is making a large puddle, oil is getting past the oil pump which may be worn from long use. Make sure the tank vent is not plugged as heat from the engine can increase pressure in the tank thus forcing oil out. Hope this helps!

Sounds pretty normal to me. Every chainsaw I've ever had leaked chain oil. Unless it's a LOT of oil, it's probably normal.
