Question about SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Tracks disappearing but still taking up space.

I was trying to play a track on my player, and was redirected to the main menu. The track did not start playing, and I could not get it to. I rebooted it, thinking that that would perhaps help, but it did not. I then Googled my problem, and saw that a corrupted library causes this sort of thing. The advice was to delete the tracks off the player and then to put them back on. However, when I plugged my player in, the tracks, according to my computer, do not exist. They still take up space, though. I tried to format it, seeing as this usually deletes all tracks, but they still were there, even though Rhapsody displays nothing. I tried unplugging the player and changing the mode, but this only made the tracks disappear from the player's menu. I cannot get any of the tracks off the player, now, and they still take up space. This is my second e260, the first I had to send back in, due to problems with the earbud jack. I'm about to go insane, and could really use some help.

Need Creative Zen user manual. No longer on the website. I really just need to know how to create playlists if you can help me with that.

  • Creating playlists for Creative Zen MP3 player
  1. Step 1 Turn your Creative Zen MP3 Player on and add music to its hard drive if you haven't already. Without music on your player, you won’t be able to select tracks for a playlist.
  2. Step 2 Select "Music Library" from the Main Menu. The Main Menu should appear as the first menu when you turn your device on.
  3. Step 3 Select "Now Playing" from the options available, then press the Options button.
  4. Step 4 Select "Save as Playlist" from the list of options. This will save the tracks you have listed currently as a playlist that can be reloaded later.
  5. Step 5 To play a playlist back, go to the Main Menu, select the playlist and click

PSS110 is only compatible with Windows XP and Windows Media Player 10.(Even though Musicmatch is used to transfer files)

If you have Media Player 11, then uninstall to roll back to version 10.

Check that you are not loading protected (DRM) tracks. If so delete these tracks and load a non DRM test track.

If this doesn't help then try the following:

Check that Musicmatch is recognising the player as GoGear, and not removable drive n: (Where n: can be any drive letter)

If it is showing as removable drive within Musicmatch, then go to the options menu. Select devices. Click on the dropdown menu, click on GoGear, then apply.

Install and run Philips Device Manager fro the product CD. Use the repair option to format the device, and free up the space taken up by the un-recognizable tracks.

Musicmatch will then put the tracks in the right place and update the playlist.
