I am getting an error message on my printer "remove and check cartridge on right" along with a blinking orange exclamation point. The cartridge on right is black ink and the cartridge is full. I have tried resetting the printer via online instructions without success. Is the simple solution to buy a new cartridge and replace the old cartridge?

The first expert replied that the head may be blocked and a comment about the colors. It is the black ink cartridge only whci has been refilled twice. Again, should just purchase a new cartridge?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. You've not mentioned the make and model # of the printer. However, from the description provided by you, it seems that the cartridge is at fault and required to be replaced with a new one. It is always recommended to use the new cartridges provided by the manufacturer to avoid any damage to the printer. But before you proceed to buy a new one, unplug the printer from the power socket and mains, clean the print head and plug it back after more than 20 minutes. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

If the cartridge is full it may be that the ink is clogged in the print head. In that case, get your print head cleared and try again. You must try a few times to get the color intensity maximum. You can remove the clog by dipping the print head in slightly warm water. Try this put.

Please take a good look at the front of your printer and make sure that the only thing blinking is the exclamation point. If it is then it means that the cover to your printer is not closed all the way. Try opening and closing the printer to cancel this error.

If there is a picture of a sun, an ink droplet or anything else along with the blinking exclamation point then the error can mean different things.

I have a Lexmark X2690 that came with my PC (HP Pavilion Labtop) in July 2008. I hardly use it, but, when I do, I am always unable to print, most likely due to one or more of the following errors that I...

The light indicates either a paper jam or a problem with your cartridges (probably due to low ink or faulty). To identify and fix this issue, please follow the steps below:
  1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.
  2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.
  3. If feeder is clear, place the printer back on the table, open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.
  4. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris in the cartridge carrier's path or the paper path.
  5. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.
  6. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power outlet to reset it.
  7. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.
  8. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.
  9. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.
  10. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge.
  11. If there's no indication of any problem, try to print a document again.
If problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

The orange light is blinking. Above the light is a triange with an exclamation point in it. I have tried deleting and reloading the printer and that doesnt work.

Do you have a new toner cartridge loaded? The red/orange light will blink when toner is low, even if everything else is working fine. Try printing out a test sheet and see what that tells you about your toner level. (Test sheep prints by holding the orange button down a second or two and releasing.)

Since I'm mainly printing drafts for my own use, I've just let the light blink while I eke out whatever I can from the remaining toner (occassionally removing the cartridge and shaking it -- being careful of clothes and surroundings -- to re-distribute the toner on the inside.

My Dell AIO printer keeps blinking right ink cartridge incorrect.Exclamation light keeps blinking too.

Try going to the Dell site and searching for that printer model. Then see if you need to have both ink cartridges populated and filled with ink, to make it work.

You might also clean the contacts on the ink cartridges, to make sure the printer knows you have both cartridges in the printer, even though they're not both filled with ink.

It just might require both to be filled, before it will print for you.

See what Dell says.

Good luck.

Printer stuck on error message "Remove and check cartridge."

Remove and check what? With the machine off see if you can slide the printhead left to right freely. Make sure nothing is interfering with it. Also check and make sure there is not a paper jam any where.
