I just did your test procedure and hot and cold both worked fine, the model # for the machine is GHW 9150PW4, it seems to display this message when it goes into the rinse and spin cycle not the wash cycle

  • prneumann May 05, 2010

took all apart, took penny out of pump, checked everything else you mentioned. ran cycle and FH came back up

  • prneumann May 06, 2010

after much evaluation, I found a small abrasion in the black tubing that connects to the pressure switch. I changed the tube and everything is all set. Thank You very much for all your help!

Hi,

It could be the valve, that is the most likely suspect. It sounds like you have verified that both hot and cold water are present at the inlet to the washer. The way to check the valve is to go into diagnostics and watch what is happening. I will give you instructions here how to do that.

If these instructions do not work please send me the complete model number from the tag just inside the door. Thanks

DIAGNOSTIC TEST
The washer must be empty and the control must be in the OFF state before pressing the touchpad sequence to start the test.
Starting the Test Mode:
Close the door.
Push CONTROL/ON (if present on this model).
Select the DRAIN/SPIN cycle.
Select NO SPIN by pressing the SPIN SPEED touchpad.
Push PREWASH OPTION four times within five seconds. (If PREWASH OPTION is not present on this model, press RINSE HOLD four times within five seconds.)
C:00 will light up on the display.

Test Program Control:
In order to advance to the next step of the test procedure, push PREWASH OPTION touchpad two times. If PREWASH OPTION is not
present on this model, press RINSE HOLD two times.

When you get to C:01 the cold water valve will open
When you get to C:03 the hot water valve will open

Push cancel after this to end the test.

If you get to the C:01 and C:03 and either one does not let water enter the machine then the valve is bad.

Let me know if you have questions

    Hi,

Okay, looks like the valve is fine. The other things that can give the F/H code are:

    - A bad drain pump, clogged drain sump or drain hose.

    —Verify Drain pump operation.
—Verify that the Pressure Switch Hose is in good condition and
properly connected to Tub and Pressure switch.
Verify there is not a siphon problem.
Verify wire harness connections to; Inlet Valves, Pressure Switch,
Drain Pump, Flow Meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU).
Check all hoses for possible leaks.
     Verify pressure switch operation.
     Verify flow meter operation.
     Verify CCU operation.

Sorry I pushed send before I was ready:

First check the drain hose going into the house drain, make sure the drain hose is not too far down into the stand pipe in the house, if it is you could be getting siphoning. The drain hose should only go into the drain about 6 inches. Check the drain hose for kinks.

If this is okay we need to pull the bottom panel off the washer and check the drain trap. The bottom panel should have 3 screws on the very bottom, once removed the panel will pull down and out. The drain trap is the white piece in the center, the handle will unscrew and you can pull the trap out. Be careful to have lots of towels ready as water will come out with the trap. Clean this trap and look inside for any thing that might be obstructing like lint or a small article of clothing. Once clean put back and retry.

There is one more thing to check.

-Take the top off of the unit, there are 3 screws that hold it on, they are on the back of the machine. The top will slide back then up.

    - Once off, looking from the front, there will be a round device (pressure switch) on the right side near the back right up top. It will have a set of wires going to it and a black hose. Look down to make sure that hose is not kinked or pinched. If you want you can pull it off the pressure switch and blow through, it should be clear.

-If this is okay, the only other thing the manufacture says to do is check all wire connections to this pressure switch and the other end of the harness that connects to the board from the pressure switch.

    - If this is okay they recommend replacing the pressure switch and main control CCU

The part numbers for those are:
    Pressure Switch 8181695
    CCU 8182695

FH IS FLASHING ON THE WASHER AND IT HAD STOPPED WORKING ONLY 5 MNUTES INTO ITS CYCLE

Hello,

The FH error code means the computer on the control board didnt detect any water entering the washer..sometimes it doesnt detect the water entering because the filter screens on the water inlet valve are clogged with sediment and water is having a hard time entering the washer.

The filter screens can be checked by turning off water at the faucets and disconnecting the fill hoses from the back of the machine and pop the scrrens out of where the hoses connect at the washer and check for blockage in them. If they are found to be clean check the water coming out of the hoses before connecting them back to the washer...if the screens are clean and water pressure is good out of the hoses the part of the washer called the FLOW METER would need to be replaced

HE3t has an FH error code checked the following and are OK. pressure switch, flow meter, and inlet valves water flows in without restriction. What else could it be? Craig

Hi,

Thank you for contacting fixya.com.

FH error code means low water inflow. In this error washer is not filling when the fill valve opens.
To clear the error please follow the bellow instructions:-
Press the "Stop" button twice with your finger. This cancels the cycle and stops the washer. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.Turn the water shut off valves clockwise to stop the water flow to the washer through the supply hoses. Pull the washer away from the wall enough that you can access the hose connections at the back of the washer.

Set a bucket under the area of the hose connections. Unscrew the hose connections from the back of the washer. If necessary, use a pair of slip joint pliers to help start the connections turning until you can turn them by hand. Set the ends of the hoses inside the bucket.Inspect the screens on the inlet ports on the back of the washer where the hoses connect. Sediment and other debris can block these screens, causing fill problems. Clean the screen with an old toothbrush.

Thread the hoses back onto the washer. Look for kinks in the hoses. Kinks cut off water supply to the washer which causes the FH error code. Once you connect the hoses, turn the water supply valves counter-clockwise to supply water to the washer. Move the bucket away from the washer and push the washer back into its working position.Plug the power cord back into the outlet and start the wash cycle again. If the FH error code comes up again, call a service repairman. If the hoses have no kinks and the inlet screens are clean, there is a problem with either the pressure switch or the flow meter.

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion.

I ordered and bought the control panel part for my kenmore elite front load washer but the washer is still not washing it's flashin FH

fh is a water problem, does it fill with water?....... FH No water detected entering machine or Pressure switch trip not detected. If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine and then valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed.
Or
If the control has turned the water valves on and after 8 minutes the flow meter has detected 10.5 gallons of water passing through it, but has not detected the pressure switch trip, the valves will be turned off and the error code will flash.

Washer keeps giving FH code. no restrictions in water flow. maybe a sensor?

After 30 seconds if the control does not detect water entering the machin then the water valve will be shut off and the error code show.

also:
If the control has turned the water valves on and 8 minutes pass and the flow meter has measured roughly 10.1/2 gallons of watergoing through it, but hasnt detected the pressure switch being triped, the water valve will shut off and the fh error code will blink

First push the PAUSE/CANCEL key twice to clear the control

If no water in the unit do this: - Make sure the valves at the water source are turned on fully.
Inspect for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or maybe plugged screens in the inlet valves
Also inspect the water valves operation

If there is water in the washer: - Inspect the drain pump, and the pressure switch hose for any kinks or rips. also check for proper connections with that hose to the tub and pressure switch.

may be a siphon problem read your manual on that.
Check all wireing harness connections to the Water valves, pressure switch, drain pump, flow meter, and the ccu or cental control unit
Inspect all hoses for any leaks
Replace the failed component if found ...

hope this helps

Code FH is showing up on my washer and the hoses are connected and not kinked. It says to check the screens at inlet hose connection but I don't know where they are

FH stands for filler hose. Pull the machine out and turn off the valves to the filler hoses. Remove the hoses to the back of the machine (maybe only one if cold fill only) and if you look into the spigot which the hose screws onto there will be a screen inside. Check that it's not blocked with debris.

Error code fh the and the machine would not drain

I know you said you had done all this, bhut these are the commentsstraight from CD manual.

Kenmore Elite 2 front loading washing machine. About every 2 minutes the cycle stops and flashes an "f" then an "h" on the display over and over again. **

That error code can be the result of no water detected entering machine after 30 seconds or pressure switch (water level control) activation not detected after 8 minutes of filling.

If there is no water in the machine at the time, make sure that both water taps are turned on, check for kinked fill hoses or plugged sediment screens in them and verify the water fill valve operation. You can read about the water valves used on appliances at the following link:

LINK > http://www.appliance411.com/links/jump.cgi?ID=801

If there is water in the unit, verify drain pump and water pressure switch are operating properly, the pressure switch hose is in good condition and properly connected to the pressure switch. Also, make sure the water is not siphoning out of the machine prematurely due to an improperly installed drain hose (see the following link).

LINK > http://www.appliance411.com/links/jump.cgi?ID=534

That error might also be caused by too much suds in the wash water like can result from using non-HE detergents.

please rate this help to keep the service online

FH error

You are correct..
FH is an indication the the machine is not sensing enough water flowing into the machine....
The only thing you can do without taking the machine apart is to disconnect the water hoses to the back of your machine and inspect the filter screens for any type of debris that might be restricting water flow into the machine. Typically, the cold water line is more susceptible to foreign matter than the hot waterline.
If screens appear OK then the problem may be with the water fill valve, water flow sensor, (flowmeter) water pressure switch or blockage in the water pressure switch hose.

However.. if everything is fine using just cold, verify hot water for proper pressure or possible kinks in the hose.

Keeps saying HF

first go here and download a manuel http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search_results.jsp?searchTerm=GHW9150P&siteCd=WHRCOM then at the bottom of the page download a parts list and keep them both the parts list will show you how the machine is put togeather and are you sure the code is not fh .fh is the code for not enough water in the machine its not filling in the time alloted check the screens on the water valves make sure the lines are open all the way and the hoses arent kinked get a bucket and open the hoses in it to check your water flow out of both lines look for slow fill or weak pressure let me know what you find it could also be that one of the water valves are bad if its not filling in rinse and you have hot wash cold rinse selected then the cold valve could be bad
