Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

I recently moved into a home with a subzero side by side. The water dispenser and ice maker worked fine. (Keep in mind the fridge and sinks are hooked up to reverse osmosis filtering system bypassing the standard subzero filter). I lowered the temp to get the fridge very cold and the water line stopped flowing. I figured it froze a little so i returned the temp to 5 (where it was before). Ultimately the water flow from the dispenser stopped entirely, but now it is back to a weak flow; however the ice maker is not making any ice. Any suggestions? Thanks

Any way to unfreeze the lines without lowering the temp in the fridge so much i will ruin the food? How low (1-10 {10 being coldest}) should i lower it and how much time should it take to 'unfreeze'. Thanks

Water lines inside the fridge are probably still frozen especially since you say the water flow is weak.

I would set it just a little lower than it was originally set. If you run a lot of water through the water dispenser it will at least help that line thaw quicker. I'm not sure how long it would take to thaw the ice maker line.

Too much water dispenses to ice maker

The adjustment is going to be located on the ice maker its self, on the big white part. It's more than likely going to be concealed by a plastic tab. Keep in mind that the water valve could be sticking to. Adjusting the water fill amount could result in no ice or a flooded fridge. Keep that in mind

Do i have to hook up my refrigerater to the sink to get water an ice

Yes you have to connect the water pipe from sink to refrigerator back.hen turn ON the water valve o run the water from fridge to freezer section.Form freezer section to water inlet valve at the back of ice maker. Then only ice maker and water dispenser will function.Other wise only freezer and fridge will work.-------------- If you dont have water tube and water valve then You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com or from online sears part site. If you are not aware of how exactly to set and connect water valve and water tube then local plumber or fridge repair technician can do it for you.Its not at all hard job and can be easily done.It will take near to 15 minutes to connect all parts.------------- Thank you.

KitchenAid ice dispenser tray is dry - not working

Put some water in the ice mold is what I would try. wait and see if the ice maker harvest a batch. If it does drop a batch but no more then the water valve is probably shot. The ice maker itself controls the water. It does this by filling the ice mold for 7.5 seconds. Here is your Ice maker repair manual and some repair photos along with a pictorial which snows how to check the water valve.

Ice maker & water dispenser won't work

I recently found out that the water supply lines are coiled up inside behind the frige on the refrigerator side moving the unit will cause those coiled up lines to shift to the freezer side of the unit, causing a freeze up,take the cardboard lower back off and move those lines further away from the freezer side of the unit, as one of those coiled up lines are to chill the water for the dispenser and the other is supply for the icemaker, this should fix your problem, becareful not to move them too far away from the freezer side as they are meant to chill the water for the dispenser

Freezer not making ice in Fridgidaire model PLH269ZDB2

There is a lever in the ice bin that detects when it is full. if that lever is locked in the"up" position, the maker stops making ice. Many times a previous owner or a shipper will turn off the icemaker this way. especially if the water to the home or freezer is turned off, so it won't keep trying to make ice.

Cant get water out of the fridge door

hello allamericananp,

welcome to fixya.com.

Huuum at your service.

You said, the ice maker slowly stopped working, decreasing in the amount of ice it made until finally no ice at all. also, water trickles from water dispenser.

The first thing I would ask is when did you last change your water filter in the fridge?
Or if it's an older fridge with an inline filter behind the fridge!
check the shut off valve for the water line that leads to you ice maker. under the sink or in the basement or where ever the line comes from. I've seen where someone turned the valve a little clockwise unbeknown to the home owner and stopped or slowed the water flow.

The water line should be checked too, for any kinking that may be running behind the fridge or some unseen place!

How old is the fridge??

Let me know,
Thank you Huuum
