You're not getting enough fuel. Check if there is a fuel filter than needs changed or if your gasoline is contaminated.

SOURCE: adjust the motor idle on a 1974 evinrude 50

Seat the idle mixture screw. Turn counter clockwise 1 1/2 turns. With engine running in gear under a load at idle slowly turn the screw clockwise until the engine bogs down and then turn back out 1/2 a turn. That is your correct mixture.

1997 3cyl 25HP Evinrude outboard Would changing the carbs to 35HP carbs make this a 35HP motor?

Depends if the bore and stroke are the same, if they are not, adding larger jetted carbs can result in always running rich. The mixture would be incorrect for the amount of air the cylinders take in.

How to fix an evinrude 18hp that will idle in forward and reverse but won't go when you get on the throttle

could be 3 things a. high idol circuit in carb b. fuel pump c. reeds In most cases it is a fuel pump issue but have had all three of the cases be the problem. I always start with carb and then while carb is off i pull reed block and check to make sure reeds arent bent or dirty then if still issue the pump.

Johnson 2 cyl 50 hp gearbox removal help!

Look on the side, of the lower end, (dirveshaft housing) for a small cover, with usually two screws holding it on. Then underneath the cover there is a fitting that connects the linkage. Put a mark with a magic marker on the linkage rod to remember where they line up. Put the motor in neuteral, (not running) and loosen the fitting, it should all seperate after that.

I bought a 5 HP gamefisher outboard motor. It 's been use once and then it sit for years outside. I change the spark plug, clean the carburator, fuel filter looks good.good compression. gas go all a way to...

If spark plug is dry, fuel is not getting to the cylinders. Next thing to check would be the fuel pump... Gas may be getting to carb, but the pump needs to push it into the cylinders too.

20 hp evinrude boat motor will not start

I usually don't recommend starting fluid but some brands have oil with them. You may have to dry the cylinders by getting them to fire with starting fluid.
You may have something else wet and grounding. Before using starting fluid spend some time with a hair dryer and try drying out the motor. Leave it sit in the sun with the cover off.
You should drain the carbs, drain the fuel line and gas tank.
