Hi..it is the DMD board (digital mirror display) but IF it can be repaired it would cost around $300.00 to repair and $970.00 to replace. I would tighten the screws that hold the mirror to the board first. All four of them. Sometimes if the screws are loose, you will get the vert. lines too.

The DMD board is encased in a flat metal can. Just wedge the cover off the can. Inside you will see the square metal bracket that covers the DMD mirror (you will not see the mirror just the metal bracket that covers it). Tighten the 4 screws in the bracket (one on each side). If this does not fix it, then your DMD board will need repaired. Good Luck!

Here is your Samsung light engine. The silver can is your DMD board. Gently take the DMD off your engine (2 screws on your left side, 3 screws with springs attached in the middle and 1 screw on the right lower corner). Gently unplug all wires and ribbon cables. On the back side of the DMD you will see your DMD mirror. Do not touch the mirror with you finger. It will leave a finger print on the picture when you reinstall it. If this happens clean it with a little Windex and let dry before installing. The 3 screws with springs that you took out in the middle, is where the DMD mirror bracket is. Gently pry open the can on the DMD board and then tighten the 4 screws that surround the DMD mirror bracket. Reinstall and plug all wires and ribbon cables in.

Own a Samsung DLP TV 42 inch and white dots have

The random whit dots you are seeing is more than not the DMD or million little mirrors board. The white spots represent some of the mirrors that are sticking in the on position. In that case they are always reflecting white light from the lamp. I don't concider the DMD board a do it yourself repair since on the older DLP set it requires mechanical alignment as well. The best thing to do is contact a techincian and see what they might charge to repair the TV for you. Please take a few moments to rate my answer...Thanks..

Had one last week and now there are 6. they are

Hi,

You get white spots inside the samsung DLP tv due to bad Digital Micromiror Device , or bad DMD board .

What is actually the problem is the DMV chip connected to this board . Inside this chip are 3 million tiny mirrors ,and when they physically get stuck , they either show black or white instead of a color
This is well know problem with SAMSUNG DLP...

The DMD chip is failing. If not under warranty expect to pay a few hundred to several hundred to get it fixed

The mirrors on the DLP chip are slowly sticking either fully open (white) or fully closed (black). The part that contains the DLP chip is the Light Engine. It is the most expensive part of the TV.Only the Samsung TVs has this issue.

Replacing the DLP chip and the micro mirror would solve this issue...

Pleaserate this solution,

Samsung dlp white dot

If the white dot is on every picture and every input and stays there for a sec. after you press the power button to turn off the tv then suspect a stuck mirror in the DMD.

Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV

If your Mitsubishi TV has white spots in the picture , you can call Mitsubishi @ 1-800-332-2119 and request a free DLP Chip to fix the problem. They will send the New DLP Chip at no charge to a TV Tech in your area to install it for $200 flat rate. That is about a $250 savings if you had to pay for the chip . Call them with your TV's Model number and serial number and let them know when and where you bought the TV.
It saved me some hard earned money and now my TV is like New !
