Question about Brother Multi-Function Center MFC-240C All-In-One InkJet Printer
I have the Brother MFC all-in-one and it's faxing and scanning with a black line in the middle of the page. I used the clean function, but that did not solve the problem. How can I get this line to stop appearing?
Do you use the document feeder when faxing and scanning? If so, the line is likely some paper dust, white-out, or other dirt on the thin piece of glass to the left of the main platen glass. Wipe that glass strip with a lint-free cloth, and if that doesn't work try using a little bit of alcohol.
If the line persists, or it occurs when you don't use the document feeder, it's probably dust somewhere in the optical portion of the unit, underneath the glass. If you want to take it apart, you can blow some compressed air around down there to scatter the dust or try wiping down the mirrors with a lint-free cloth.
