Why is my ice dirty

There are two ways to get dirty ice - dirty water or a dirty machine.
If the water that the machine is processing is dirty, you'll get dirty ice. Check that your water filter is working properly, and that the filter core is in good condition. If the water supply to your machine is really dirty, consider a double filter.
Also, check inside your machine for deposits of silt, minerals or other undesirable materials. Clean out the inside of the machine thoroughly, but don't use any household cleaning products or acids - they will damage your machine or leave an undesirable perfume which will contaminate the ice - Just use water. Also don't use anything abrasive on the internal surfaces. If there are mineral deposits, you can dissolve them with household vinegar by soaking them or spraying them continuously, and then rubbing with a non-abrasive sponge. There are also commercial solvents especially for icemakers. Rinse the machine thoroughly to remove any odours, and throw away the first harvest of ice.

The washer keeps getting the water in even when the washer is not in use. there is constant water drifting along the rubber ring of the front door into the container

check fill hoses screens for silt, dirt also at the water valve screen. if dirty clean and replace the screens at hoses and clean screen at valve. if this wont work make sure water pressure is at least 20psi. if it is replace water valve if problem not solve or continue.

How do you clean a cold water inlet valve? Our city has had busted water lines and the silt has gotten into my lines.

unplug the washer, get at home depot "SILICON LUBRICANT", remove the fill hose, with a small screwdriver scrape the screen of the water valve and spray the lubricant to remove silt. repeat the proccess as needed. do the same at the faucet side. get new screens at home depot too. connect the fill hose at the faucet and take out the drain hose. put the other side at the drain and open the faucet to purge any dirt-silt for 2 to 5 minutes. install new screens at faucet side but not at valve side(valve has one already). open faucet and test wash. good luck to you.

Washing machine flashes error code e10 & is not filling with water

Check to make sure water supply is fully turned on. if the water supply is fully turned on, then check to make sure that your hoses are straight. if that doesnt work, tun off water supply, disconnect hose connection to the water inlet valve and check to see if the screen is dirty. you can use a small brush to clean it. if the screen isnt dirty then you may need to replace your water inlet valve. if the screen is dirty and you want to remove the valve let me know and i"ll walk you through the steps.

Cold water runs very slowly and can take a full hour to fill the tub.

The water hose that connects to the water supply has a screen filter in it. Check it and clean it out if it needs it. If that isn't the problem the water inlet valve may not be able to open all the way and need to be replaced. It's where the hose connects to the washer.

Our well pump went out and was replaced, there has been some silt from the well and we have cleaned the water filters in the lines. when the washer goes into the rinse cycle, the water goes down to a...

Sometime there are water screens in both the hoses and the water vavle. Given you mentioned that in the rinse cycle the problem most often occurs it seems you still have cold water clogged screen issues. Turn off your water hoses and remove them at both the water valve and the hose bibb faucetts. Remove and Re-clean the screens under running water with an old tooth brush. It is not uncommon for a water system that has had silt intorduced into it to cause water fill flow problems for quite some time. That silt has settled in your pressure tank and your hot water heater. I would recommend that you attempt to drain and re-fill them both to at least minimize further silt introduction. In the mean time clean your inlet screens in the water lvale and hoses as often as necessary until the problem goes away.

Poor quality ice

Is the ice too small or is it dirty in appearance? If it is too small then the 1.4 inch water supply line may be pinched or clogged. Trun off the water to the unit and remove the line connected to the rear of your fridge. Then get a large bowl and have someone turn on the water supply. If there is sufficient pressure then more than likely the inlet screen to the ice maker water valve is obstructed and will require cleaning. Follow the input water line to the ice maker water valve. Some valved can have the screen cleaned with the valve installed by removing the input line and then the input screen. You can gain access to the screen by removing the flexible back panel, remove it by using a pointed tool on the outside of the screen ede only. Then wash / or scrub it clean with your fingers while running water over it. Reinstall the screen, reconnect the valve input line and then reconnect the water supply line and turn on the water supply. It can take several hours before the unit starts making ice cubes again as you have intorduced air into the system and it will self purge during the next few ice making cycles. You should have the correct sized cubes within 24 hours. If the cubes are dirty then go to any appliance parts supply store, purchase a charcoal filter and install it just above the inlet supply line connection.

Slow Cold Water Fill

There is possibly a filter screen in the hoses as well as the water valve.Check the hoses for screens.Occasionally the water valve will deteriorate inside and must be replaced.
I am on a water well and have the same problem. This weekend I installed a inline filter purchased from Lowes. It has stopped the sand and silt problem. You will have to buy one extra water hose to do this yourself.
