Question about Creative Labs Zen Digital Media Player

I have a creative zen 4 GB and i accidently dropped it on the pavment and it froze when i picked it back up i pressed the reset button to reboot it but after i did that it wont turn on i get the firmware problem or ill get nothing on the screen but the blue lite will be on or ill just get the creative screen and nothing else any hope for my little piece of entertainment

Hi my creative zen 8gb when turned on states that the ear phones are not connected, and loses all power even though it has been fully charged after one use

1 Turn off your player.


2 Press and hold the Play/Pause.Continue to hold the Play/Pause button until you perform Steps 3 and 4.If you accidentally release the button, start the procedure again.


3 Gently push the end of a thin object (like a pin or straightened paperclip) into the Reset hole. The reset button for the ZEN Mozaic is located on the left side of the player, with the menu buttons facing you.


4 Slide the On/Off/Lock switch towards the power button and hold until the display lights up. The Recovery Mode screen appears, and four menu items are shown: Clean Up, Format All, Reload Firmware and Reboot.

From here you should be able to choose to reload the firmware.

If your player stops responding, you can reset it. To reset the player, push the end of a pin-like object (for example, a pin or straightened paperclip) into the Reset hole. This should not cause you to lose any data or audio tracks, unless you were in the middle of transferring an audio track.

To reset Zen Vision:M to factory default settings:

Press on the Menu/Back button on your player, and select System, and then Reset.

To Format or Clean Up Zen Vision:M

1. Detach the Zen Vision:M player from your PC , and ensure that the unit is off.

If the battery is too low, charge the battery fully before continuing
2. Slide the Power switch towards the Power icon and hold the switch in the Power On position.
3. Push the end of a pin-like object (for example, a straightened paper clip) into the reset hole, press gently and remove.

4. Release the Power switch when the Creative logo appears. The Recovery Mode appears:
* Clean Up (Performs a disk scan on the player's hard disk, it will not affect music files)
* Format All (Formats the players hard disk - Note: all contents will be lost)
* Reload Firmware (Reloads the Operating System on the Zen. Select this option ONLY if there is a firmware available to reload.)
* Reboot (Reboots the device).
5. Select Clean Up or Format from the Recovery Mode, and then select Reboot.

My Creative Zen won't turn on OR off!


I had the same problem today too. I just stuc a needle in the little 'Reset' hole at the bottom and it was all good.

My Creative ZEN 8 GB has Firmware Problems


Try uninstalling Windows Media Player version 11 from your computer before trying to reload the firmware. It works wonders.

Take your battery out of the back, turn it back on and let it reboot.

PC wont recognize my MP3


i finally fixed it!!!

4.Release the Power button when the Recovery Mode appears.
5.Select Format (All) and select Yes to format the player.
6.After the player has finished formatting, select Reboot.
7.Retransfer the tracks to the player.

after formatting it again press reboot and pkug into comp and it works!!!

1. I'd try a system clean up first (instructions below)
2. definitely upgrade your firmware (http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/)
3. If all else fails, back up all your music on your PC and format it (instructions below)

Creative Zen Touch Harddisk Problem


was the unit dropped?
is the unit out of warranty?
if yes to both of these then you need to replace the drive
some have replaced with flash drives

I found this. *Plug the Creative Zen in to the charger and plug it in the wall. *Press in the Play/Pause (same button) and hold it in. *Insert a paper clip in to the pin hole on the left side of player, near the bottom. *Hold the needle or paper clip in for 4 seconds and let go. *Keep holding down the Play/Pause botton. What I did was clean up disk. Then Reboot.

remove the battery and the usb then plug back in. if that doesnt work hit the reset button (if this one has one)
