The water valve is located behind the frige, remove the lower back panel and follow the water line from the house to the frige as that line meets the frige that's the valve that may be bad,but before you change it, you can test it, remove one of the 2 lines that goes to the side of the frige and push the switch to get some water, water should come from back there, if not re move the other line, it meant that the first line belong to the ice maker, try the other one now, it should give you water. if not replace the valve.

My sixth sense side by side is dispensing water but not making ice

Need that model number to give you correct model numbers. Because you dispense water does not answer why you do not have Ice. The dual water control valve has two sides one or the dispenser and one for the Ice Maker. Does the ice maker have any water in the ice slots? Fill slots with tap water does it dump when frozen?

If your freezer is working, and water is reaching the ice fins/tray; check that the metal wire lever is in the down position for dispensing water and/or up for when ice is ready. The lever activates a small valve that allows water to drip onto the ice fins/tray...

The water dispensing valve may not be functioning, if the valve buzzes or hums when the water dispenser is pressed the valve may be mechanically deficient, if there is no sound whatsoever the switch for the dispenser, the dispensing valve coil or its electrical connections may have failed.

Ice/Water dispenser is dispensing crushed ice only.

You could have a problem with the lever that changes from one to another. If you can access the panel behind that door you may be able to see if it is mechanical or not.

Kenmore Refrigerator stopped dispensing water

Either your water tank in the fridge froze up, the waterline that goes up the freezer door from the bottom hinge froze, or the switch that your glass hits is damaged. Do you hear any humming or noises when you put your glass up to get water?
