Question about HP Pavilion dv7-1130us laptop
The light is pressure sensitive. Press it and see if it turns blue. If that doesn't fix your problem then the adapter might be disabled. To check that go into your Network and Sharing center and on the left side of the screen click on manage network connections. There should not be an X on wireless network connection, if there is then right click on it and choose enable.

Go into programs and features and uninstall the hp wireless assistance this normally happens with update.
after uninstalling hp wireless assistance restart the notebook and when it boots back up if the light is orange touch the button and the light will go blue.
if not goto start in the search box type in device manager and goto network connections and make sure there is no yellow marks or black down arrows on the wireless under network adapters.
if there is a yellow mark right click on the wireless and uninstall and check the box to delete drivers and restart the notebook and locate and install drivers.

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

if its still under warranty get in touch with HP they have had hardware issues with this
there are things you can try
START>All Programs>accessories right click command prompt and left click run as administrator In window that opens enter at command prompt sfc/scannow
this will scan all your windows OS and replace any corrupt files/ registry Entry
you can go to device manager and uninstall the drivers the issue or problem is that the driver simply dissapears (which says to me hardware fault) there is a trick to remove old drivers on vista that naturally you wont see
click Start> RIGHT Click computer> select PROPERTIES>click ADVANCE (tab) you will see ENVIROMENT VARIABLES (button) click this system variables box click NEW button box should appear
type in NAME BOX
type in VALUE BOX
right click computer select manage>device manager click VIEW show hidden devices
to remove right click specific device select uninstall
hope some or any of this helps, if i can help further i will try hp also and if all fails could be a dongle, i still say its a hardware fault and HP should do a recall.
