Question about JVC Televison & Video
I have an old JVC TV model no. AV-27BP4 and it seems like the signal between the remote and the tv doesn't work anymore. Plus, when I change de channel or when I play with the volume control, I don't have the display anymore. There's nothing wrong with my remote because it still works with my VCR so I think it's the TV.
If the TV has no RCA inputs, then there is no "AV channel" option for it on any remote, just channel selection.
The purpose of a RCA to SCART converter (aka RF modulator) is to convert one of your channels to an A/V input. They operate (standard) on either channel 3 or 4 as selected by a switch on the converter.
If your converter is unpowered, it's entirely possible that the signal coming out is not good enough to overpower your antenna signal. In this case, you may need a powered unit (such as this one http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=5806345&productCategoryId=abcat0107025&type=product&tab=7&id=1067388827858#productdetail) which can actively "shut off" the antenna input when signal is received from the auxiliary device.

Found this in another forum (www.hometheaterspot.com) and it fixed my remote problem:
"...it's possible that one of the front panel buttons is "stuck" or shorted, and this could cause the TV to ignore commands from the front panel or remote. But this should also cause the Power command to be ignored, too. You might try pulling off the front panel and disconnecting the front panel buttons and then see if the remote works."

SOURCE: Romote control not working
1. The owner's manual is available online:
Download the manual under Operating Instructions.
2. To remedy "SET1" problem, Press 1 & Enter at the same time.
Hope this helps

There is usually a remote module mounted on the inside of the front of the tv that senses the remote signal. This controls all functions of the tv. If you are not comfortable in troubleshooting this, I would recommend a repair center.
