I want to re install xp but it says setup did not finf any harddi

I m using hp 530 i have been using xp but after crashing i tried to install xp again but says set up did not find any hard disk installed,i have never install vista on it

It sounds to me like the reason your computer has crashed is because your hard drive has failed, or possibly that your boot sector is corrupted.
Try holding down the F8 key when you turn it on. A recovery screen should appear. A full factory reset will result in lost data. Just follow the instructions. If the screen doesn't appear, your hard drive is suspect.

you need to change native SATA settings in bios. then you can install windows xp. The steps are below

  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Press the power button and press f10 to open the BIOS Setup.
  3. Use the cursor to navigate the Configuration options to locate the Native-SATA setting.
    • If there is a SATA setting, select the Disable option, and then press F10 to save the change and restart the computer

HARD DRIVE IS NOT WORKING

if you have a recovery CD that came with your notebook insert it into the drive and then re-boot the machine... the recovery program should start and let you factory reset the computer (put it back to new) it should work then

You can try to change in bios show HD as ide native or something like that. If u install xp it gonna destroy your vista installation.

How to install xp on hp 530

Press F10 to enter BIOS setup...
find and disable the SATA native support

Now save and exit then when you reboot and attempt to install XP you will have no problem.
