Hi, (dont smirk) i found a tiny computer/ desktop. i think its 1999 or 2000, anyway i was interested to see if it works. So I had a mess around with it on weekend. It had no harddrive so i rigged my 20gig up from my current (reconditioned dell). Once turned on the monitor wouldnt fire up and it just bleeped for etenrnity and sounded rough, lol. then i unplugged it all and had a mess about, i.e. switched a few jumpers over and back, took bios battery out and checked all card slots etc was in place. retstarted and it sounded promising, this time it beeped once, yay :) but still problem of monitor not firing up?? so... then i have switched power box with spare i had to check if it was power supply. it was exactly the same as before, so im pretty sure now the power supply was fine. Of course im now thinking (motherboard) and as a last ditched attempt i thought id ask for help? as i am also on net seeing if i could find a downloadable user manual for this heap a croc... haha any ideas, anthony :)

hi, im new with the whole computer knowledge but i have done some research seeing as i have this comp as well. just like me your needing to upgrade the comp to be more sufficient and up to par with todays upgrades seeing as this comp is old and prolly got it at Best Buy. but if your going to do some heavy media, gaming etc. i suggest getting a new comp that is up to date with todays changes. only reason why is the video card you require for this comp is a PCI which i have read is the lowest quality and probably soon to be obsolete that many programs dont support anymore. dont get me wrong you can still buy them, but dont expect high quality performance. remember you need a PCI not PCI Express (PCIE) to fit the slot that your motherboard has. ive done alot of searches for PCI video cards, i suggest just to google it or check newegg.com. im still actually looking around myself. im sure if you have this comp your also looking for an inexpensive part. anyways i hope this helped.
my upgrades are: 500 hard drive 60 slave 2g memory
Neither could I ... this computer is discontinued ... It is unusual that there are none to be found at eBay nor Craig's List, no rfurbs at any of the usual sites. Since you can't find it and I can't find it ... it is difficult to come up with a 'fair market value' for this discontinued product.
in my opinion e-machines are the bottom of the barrel and if they were giving them away I would have to pass, because they use the absolute lowest cost per unit parts = lowest quality parts in most cases... that is my opinion and not fact, sell it to someone and always buy the best quality you afford it almost always gives you more enjoyment for a longer period of time. Cheers!
