Clean the mic hole, but in my opinion, it's better to visit a mobile repairing shop and let them do it for you. It's better to replace the mic.

HP pavilion dv9005us. When using built in mic receivers say volume is very low. When I move the lid I get a crackling sound in the speakers like the mic wires a lose ..

To fix the low volume problem in mic receiver follow the steps below:
  1. Click Start , Control Panel .
  2. In the left panel, select Classic View .
  3. Select Sound , and then select the Recording tab.
  4. Right-click on Microphone and select Properties .
  5. On the Custom tab, select Microphone Boost .
  6. On the Levels tab, increase the microphone recording volume to the maximum level.
Then please check if it works fine otherwise you need to install the latest sound driver.

Windows VISTA 64bit and 32 bitsound driver:

Windows XP sound driver:

What kind of outlet do i plug my cm-p35 microphone into?

The cm-p35 is a low-impedance (low-Z) dynamic microphone. It can plug into a mixer or microphone preamp that has XLR input connectors, typically found on professional audio equipment.

If you want to attach it to a computer, you'll need to buy an audio interface for it, either a pro-grade sound card with XLR inputs, or a USB-to-XLR adaptor, like this one at ZZounds.com

Microphone too quiet

That's probably not going to work.
Mic level is extremely low compared with line level.
Your sound card is expecting a line level input.
It's simply not made to plug a microphone into (you must be using an adapter or two just to make the connection)
Look for a USB Audio Interface with XLR or 1/4" microphone inputs - these interfaces are pretty generic these days and easy to use ... just plug into your computer via USB and then plug the mic into the interface ... which has a volume control on it ...
I use a Tapco Link.USB ... and like it
