Firewall blocking access to LimeWire.com

I have checked with my ISP and searched my computer and can not find the firewall preventing me from accessing LimeWire. Could it be in my router and if so, how can I shut it off?

No your linksys BEFSR41 is not having any firewall inside so its probebly some firewall or some antivirus on your computer which is not allowing limewire.com to work on your pc
you did n't mention which operating system you are using and which antivirus otherwise i can help in that manner
k try to search in your computer
your ROUTER is nothing to do with this issue

A firewall we don't have is blocking it and we can't stop it!!!

Log on as a user that is a member of the Administrators group. Open the Network Connections folder, right click the desired connection, and then click Properties. Click the Advanced tab, and remove the check from Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet. Click Yes to the dialog windows that asks you to confirm your decision to disable the firewall. This would solve your problem.

Firewall and limewire

Dear ckclee,
Just uninstall your new limewire and restart your computer. try to re-install the old version of your "work-fine-Limewire". If it doesn't work, the only way is go to start menu, browse the accessories, carefully choose "SYSTEM RESTORE". when it runnng.. pick the date which your computer work best, the restart it, remember... windows can only restore and set back time status not more than a week, according to my experience.
Good Luck

Limewire connection

you need to find your router address from your manual (eg. 192.167.0.1). Then type this number in Internet Explorer address bar. If you did all ok at this point you should be opening browser control panel in Internet Explorer. Go to firewall page. Set Limewire software (you may need to use full path eg. C:\program files\limewire\) as an exception in ur firewall.

cheers

Open a port for a certain program

hi mike,

this router has its own firewall, although i don't think its a good idea to turn off the firewall

google the port that limewire uses and then use portforwarding on the router.

you can start by turning off the firewall on the router to see if it works. if it does then perrhaps just allow limewire to passthrough your firewall at the router.

good luck

Firewall ?? I cant get Limewire back....

Find the IP address of the modem, it should be on a label on the bottom of the modem or in the owners manual that came with the modem. Then open internet explorer, in the address window, type > http:// then enter the IP address next to the // then press the enter key, you will see the home page of the modem, logon to the modem at this screen and make the change to the firewall to allow Limewire. Accessing ISP email account

There are numerous ports used and methods to send and recieve e-mail my setup uses the pop / smtp method where I believe the default ports are 110 / 25 however my ISP uses two other ports. Routers with port filtering enabled may allow 110 and 25 by default but are unlikely to permit other ports chosen by your or my ISP. The riskier change is to disable all port filtering. The safer option would be to open the ports required by your ISP (as well as closing the default ports that are unused).

In order to achieve this we will need to determine the ports you utilize for e-mail.

We will need to be able to access the router for configuration with a web browser.

A second option is that your computer has a firewall blocking your e-mail ports. However if this were true your e-mail would never work. The process is similar to the router in that the required ports would need to be open or the e-mail program given permission to access the internet in your computer's firewall program.

This could be a lengthy process determining your e-mail client accessing the configuration to determine the ports used. Determining if the router and/or the internal firewall are the issue and making the appropriate changes to one or both as determined necessary. If you, your neighbor or a friend is knowledgeable in these areas it may be easier to have them as
