Question about Gateway 960 Series (gtwy960) Server

1 Answer

My Gateway 960 server continues to beep after being dusted and reconnected. I recently opened it (I did not get too far as I did not want to disconnect anything inside) and gently vaccumed it again as was told dust could of have gone deeper on initial dusting and trigger sensors. Still beeps. Appreciate any advise!!! Frank

SOURCE: Constant beeping

I would first check that all the fans are turning when you first power it up. It may have fan speed sensors on them, and one or more fans aren't coming up to speed. I would check the CPU fan(s), as they are usually smaller, and tend to go bad before the other larger ones.

Long continuous beep

It seems to be issue with RAM. Remove RAMs from RAM slot, clean up dust from RAM slot as well from RAM. Hook up RAM back to the RAM slot. If it would still not work, then replace the RAM.
