Batteries in phone but message says insert batteries. Original batteries in phone

I will start by qualifying some answers regarding your device.

  1. Your device was working fine before this issue came up.
  2. This is not a new phone with a new battery install.
  3. The battery is removable.
If your phone/battery was working fine and this happened all of a sudden, then try the following.

  1. Open the phone and remove the battery. Leave it out of the phone for a full minute (don't leave phone on charger while doing this.)
  2. Re-insert battery into phone and power up the device.
  3. If it starts up, then all is well. If not then you may have a bad battery.
  4. If it fails to start, there are two possibilities:
  • Battery is bad, old.
  • USB port is bad and not charging the battery.

As we all know, batteries have a life expectancy given their use and care. Most every phone I have ever purchased came with a statement regarding the "life expectancy and care for battery." It is generally recommended that you let the battery drain all the way down before recharging it so as to "condition" it to hold a charge longer and increase it's life. Also, it is not recommended to leave your device plugged in all the time (past the point where the battery is fully charged.)

Perhaps where you live, there is a phone store which specializes in phone repair, not a branded retailer like "Verizon" or "Sprint", but a repair shop. Do a search for one close by and they will be able to test the battery. Also, you may have a battery store which deals with only batteries who can test the battery for you.

Hope this helps.

I purchased Nokia 5230 almost 2 months back . everything is fine except for the fact that it sometimes get switched off. Also the battery life is too short....

battery life is good if the phone is not switched off 2-3 times a day.... as it consume very high battery power to start the phone... if ur phone is switching off without any reason.. try to reset it... it will be alright.... for any problem email i will do it for free... :--)

Short Battery life, Randomly shuts down, and more...

sounds like the battery is shot. Get a new battery and fully charge it. I try to charge my phone more off of a power outlet and not the cigarette lighter in a auto. The battery will last longer that way. something about cigarette lighters. As far as the messaging and failed calls goes. up grade your tower signals. contact your cell phone company and get the number for upgrading the towers.
