Question about LG WM-1480FHD Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Water is not being pumped out. We have checked the filter and took 3 coins which we believed that was causing the problem but the water still sits in the washing machine. There is no sign (noise) of pump being working. Can be another blockage anywhere in the machine or is the case that the pump has gone? How much should I expect to pay to get it changed?

There is a service manual for your machine series, use this to troubleshoot the problem It could quite well be, that those coins, have burnt out the motor, or tripped the motor fuse, (internal), or the controller's gone faulty, too.

You don't reveal full model number. It's not likely that a coin is blocking the water. The pump (part of the motor assembly) may be partially blocked inside or a garment (sock, u-shirt, etc.) may be blocking the water inlet to the pump. It's too early to remove the agitator.

Holding water

Good Day,
Your washing machine is fully automatic?
the washing cycle is normal?
if yes do the same maybe it will help you.
for the fully automatic washing machine mostly have drain pump, please check the filter of your drain pump, how? remove the cup of your drain pump like a ordinary cup, screw it clock wise or counter clock wise.
Remove drain pump filter and clean it, some hair pins, cotton buds or coins or any small item that coz of clog up.
if your washing machine dont have drain pump ,but fully automatic check the drain motor if running or not? how? open the back cover for top loader washing machine only, select spin cycle and press start to see the drain motor running? the drain motor is like a small box with small wire to pull the lever of the drain to remove water inside, if the motor running or pull the lever of the water pipe but water still inside the washing machine, remove the drain cup or cover and clean it or check if have coin or cloth inside that coz of clog or water stuck,
if the drain pump or drain motor is weak this is will cause and long time draining or totally not running the drain pump or drain motor and its cause of totally stop the cycle of washing machine in rinse time or spin time, because all fully automatic washing machine, after washing cycle the drain pump or drain motor must be on, to remove water before start the next cycle. rinse or spin cycle.

I've got an OE fault code. Did what the manual said to do and didn't clear the code. I believe the water pump went out because when it gets to the rinse cycle it makes a grinding gravel sound and doesn't...

The LG error code OE simply means "the pump is blocked". Presumably the water isn't being emptied properly. As with all error codes it is possible that there is a cause other than the exact description in the error code explanation but basically this error means as far as the washing machine is concerned it thinks the water isn't pumping out. A pump, or filter blockage is the most common cause but it could be caused by other faults such as a faulty pump, or even a blockage in the drain hose or somewhere else in the system etc.

LG themselves have some information on this error code..

Need to flush hose that goes to coin filter due to mildewed water sitting in it

take the kick panel off.
remove 3, 7 millimeter screws
the lkick panel will just come off
in the very center you will see the pump filter untwist it and you will find your treasures.
I hope this helps

My water don't drain after a full cycle

A very common cause for reluctant draining is that the pump filter is blocked or the pump motor has failed. Check the pump filter via the small access door at floor level (might be behind kick plate) Carefully unscrew the round 'plug' and clear filter. Also check that there isnt a coin or similair stopping the impeller from turning. Any water in the machine will flow out during this operation. Leaning the machine back and bailing it out first will help...Good luck .....Nomess

Pump is clogged. Clear out the pump by removing hose going to the pump from the tub. Could be coins or jewelry but something definetly is in the pump.
