Question about Computers & Internet
Some laptops have a switch in front next to the wireless light or on the side.
Some laptops use an F key (my toshiba is F8) so to turn on the wireless I would have to turn the switch on in front and then "toggle" the Wireless on by pressing the FN and the F8 keys.

Above the NumLock, there is a button with an icon of a satellite dish on it. Looks more like a light than a button, but press it anyway, it will start blinking when wireless is on.

Acer is notoriously bad. The 6530 has a problem connecting to wireless, even when "Wireless Lan" is enabled. You have to turn wireless on and ff about 15 times. Eventually it will find your network

Tips for a great answer:
and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Toshiba
Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support).
Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating
system when requested. Download and install the Network drivers.
Make sure the wireless switch is turned on.
Maybe you don't have your wireless turned on. Look on
both sides and in front for the Wireless Switch and turn it on.
Also once the wireless switch is turned on there are keystrokes that can toggle the wireless on or off. Normally you would Press and Hold the FN function key located at the lower left of the keyboard, then hit the correct F1 thru F12 key that toggles the wireless. The correct F1 thru F12 key to hit will have the wireless signal icon )))) on it. Or it might have the icon of a tower with the wireless signal icon )))). Normally the screen will display Wireless On or Wireless Off when you toggle the wireless.
Still not working?
If you still have problems then turn the laptop off, remove the power cord, remove the battery, then remove the cover that houses the wireless card on the bottom of the laptop. Remove the antennas (2 cables) from the wireless card (remember how they go so you can put them back later), then remove the wireless card from the slot ( it might be secured by one or two screws you have to remove). After about 30 seconds put it all back together and reboot. Sometimes reseating the wireless card will make it work.
