Kenwood kdc mp228 now working with amp/subs

My kenwood kdc mp228is hooked up to a Rockford 600watt amp and a single 12" alpine sub. all connections are correct, and my sub is not blown, but he amp isn't working, and the sub isn't getting a signal. is my sub too powerful? I've heard of a guy who has a 600watt amp with his mp228... please advise, thank you

Hi, ensure amp has 12v on the "+" and "rem" terminals and has a good ground to the amp, This is all the amps needs to start up

the user manual states that this model only has 2 channel line out (rear channel L & R). this is affected by the fader control so ensure that the fader control is set to the centre or rear positions - if it is only set to the front, then you will have no sound - there is no subwoofer function on this unit.

P.S you never did say whether your amp was starting up. most amps have a status light on them indication whether it is "on" or in "protection" mode

I agree, as long both terminals are getting power and a good ground it should kick on, if it don't it might be shot..

What amp would be better to use with what speakers/sub? I have a KAC-7202 kenwood 920W maximum power (150wX2 RMS, 4ohms) (230wX2 RMS 2ohms) and then the other amp I have is a Alpine MRP-M500 mono power...

I'm using that Alpine right now for 2-12" subs and I have compared it to 6 or 7 other amps this month and most were 4 channel 150Watt/Channel Bridged to 300Watts x 2 and found the Alpine to be superior in both sound quality and loudness. The Alpine has also not turned off even with full volume for hours at a time, Very solid amp I was very surprised due to it's size!

You may have blown a fuse, check those to make sure they aren't blown. Verify that the connections are in place again and make sure the settings on the amp are correct as well.
If the fuse isn't blown and the connections are secure, I would make sure that the wire that you have ran from your battery is within the specifications for use with your amplifier.

How do I hook up one sub to my rockford fosgate p3001 amp

Hey i have looked over many rockford manuals,(i own a 300.1 my buddy owns a 325.1) and for there mono(.1) amps there hooked together on the inside so channel A+ and B + are cencted on the inside the amp. So you ither hook one 2ohm sub to channel A or you can hook 1 4ohm subs to channel A and 1 4ohm sub to channel B. There 2ohm stable so any lower will eventualy burn the amp out.

Sub will drain all the sound off the front speakers

if you have both amps connected to the same power wire this will happen...run another power wire to the alpine and this should solve the problem.
