Question about Black & Decker 19" Electric Lawnhog Mulching Mower with Rear Bag

Black&D'er CMM1200 24V is running very slow unable to chew grass

My Black&Decker CMM1200 24V 19" mower 's ability to cut any size of grass blade has been compromized. It sounds as if it is spinning in slow motion, even with a full charge. Also after having it plugged in for 8 hours, I have not noticed the red or green light on the charger cord. Are these 2 issues related? Where can I get it repaired? Chicago, IL

Sounds like a battery problem, you could have a defective cell which is causing a very low voltage to be sent to the motor which = slow spin.

Yes the charge indicator could be related.

You can take the battery apart and find out what type of cell it is and have it replaced...but personally I hate cordless lawn mowers for this exact reason so I would go but a manual push or a gas model.

I own a cordless Black & Decker 19" rechargeable mulching mower, CMM 1200, 24V. There are days that it starts beautifully, and others where it remains quiet and uncooperative. Temperature seems to...

Mulching mowers are notorious for needing to be cleaned out frequently. The problem usually is the cutting height. The lower it is, the faster it gets clogged up.

Cutting wet grass doesn't help this situation either, it actually makes it clog up much faster.

Set the cutting height to about 3", and wait until the grass is dry before you cut it. This should help with the cuttings buildup.

As a landscaper, I deal with lawnmowers on almost a daily basis, and on cold mornings, the mowers are sluggish and don't want to run well.

If you keep your mower stored in a weather proof building with a consistent temperature and humidity level, there shouldn't be many issues with startup. Start it up and let it idle at half choke before cutting.

I hope this helps you.

18" Electric LAWNHOG™ Mulching Mower from Black and Decker idles very low then revs up but fails when cutting grass

Most likely the motor 'brushes' need to be replaced now.

These wear over time and most likely should be replaced by a professional.

Why does my electric mower lose power in high grass? After waiting a few seconds &/or tilting it up, the engine revs back up and can continue to cut. It is a older model. Doesn't have a fan attacted to...

The high grass causes more drag than shorter grass. This means more friction. The tilting lessens the drag, so less friction, the speed increases. It ma need a sharpening but it sounds as though it is running correctly. As you say, it is older so you can't expect new performance. Good luck...Lee

I would like to buy a petrol lawn mower, i have found out there are mulching lawn mowers on the market, what are your views on this type of mower

Mulching mowers are great if you dont have the time to rake the excess grass or the means ( time or ability) to dispose of te collected remains. The mower will mulch te grass right back over te top of the cut grass with minimal apperance of grass being left behind, if you kep up on the cutting schedule that is. Better for larger areas where "lines" would usually remaine with a non mulching mower.

Mower won't start

13 to 15 amps electric or battery operated mower may runs slow when cutting thick grass. also recommended not to cut grass when it's wet & need very sharp blade to do the lawn. may overloading it, cutting grass too thick also draws too much power. check house breaker first.
