I have the cameras set up via factory defaults but have no image on any of the 4. What resolution settings would you recommend for daytime or night use? The system wont allow me to change the password on the included monitor/dvr; is this a problem? If so, how do I reset?

Hi, well whenever you have "Blue Screen" thats an indication that NO VIDEO, is being applied to the Input or "Source". Or that there IS, but the Screen, is faulty, you will have to troubleshoot to find out. Ensure you are connected up correctly, with all cables color to color, Video, and Audio, Video, can be, Composite, Video, Yellow, plus Red & White Audio in, Or, SVHS Cable, and Audio, Red & White, Or, Component, 3 cables, Red Blue, & green, plus the two audio, Red & White, (5 in all). Once connected with the correct cables, then select the appropriate Input, from the Screens Menu, and select the appropriate EXTERNAL Input, ensure the device, being used to output the signal, The Camera's picture,, to be displayed by the screen, is working, always check on another INPUT device, Screen, to ensure it is actually putting out a signal. If all is well, and you are getting a signal, make sure the Format is correct on the input device, NTSC, USA, PAL everywhere else. Also ensure the Screens "Format" is the same, either NTSC, or PAL. Check, cables are all plugged in correctly, choose input, and you should have a signal. You should get as manual for your exact make and model screen, inside it shows you what to do, and how to troubleshoot.

Are you using a VGA monitor or a TV with composite video?

It is very common to have this problem with VGA monitors, you have to hook it up to a display with composite video and check the output resolution. This occurs because some of the surveillance systems do not support DDC and you have to set the resolution manually.

Let me know if this works,

Thanks,

KJB

Check your individual cameras and make sure they are working fine. Once a camera is plugged in it should display its picture.

APPARENTLY, I HIT A WRONG BUTTON AND NOW I HAVE A BLUE GRAPH LIKE IMAGE IN THE RIGHT HAND CORNER OF THE CAMERA SCREEN WHEN I VIEW THE PICTURE THAT I JUST TOOK. HOW CAN I GET RID OF THIS BLUE GRAPH?

You're seeing the histogram. To get rid of it on many cameras, simply press up-arrow or down-arrow (usually on the big circular multiselector). If that doesn't do it, please reply to this post specifying the make and model of your camera, and someone can give you more precise instructions.

Take your memory card out of the camera and switch the position of the little "lock" tab. That should fix it and you can start saving images.
